PC Replacement

Hi, I am looking to buy a new PC, I have purchased from other brands in the past, that make bespoke PC's, the current one is about 7 years old, and it just needs to be replaced.

This machine is main use is Gaming, things like MMO's - will probably be running games like the new Archage game, games like Black Myth Wukong, and ARPG's and RPG's like PoE2 and BG3

The monitor I have is the Alienware AW2725DF 27 Inch QHD (2560x1440)
The Budget is between £3,000 - 3,500

Open to suggestions, and thanks. It has been a while since I looked at these websites, but often been tempted to buy from PCS, but never pulled the trigger before.

Hiya, solid foundation here. Please could you include the config link to make it easier for people to go in and make changes?

With your previous build, is there anything that you are able to transfer across, e.g Windows, storage drives?

I had to rebuild it, and some how it came out slightly cheaper on the website this time (looks like a used a slightly cheaper motherboard)

In regards to your other question, - nothing is worth saving.. the old storage drive, i will transfer the data across to the new machine, to the new SSD 4GB drive. As the old storage drive is not an SSD drive anyway. So this is going to have to be a totally new build.

Dialled back some areas based on my spending, and upped the PSU. Still some room in your budget if you wanted to add some parts back in.

Case
LIAN LI O11DYNAMIC EVO RGB GAMING CASE
Processor (CPU)
AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D Eight Core CPU (Up to 5.2GHz/104MB w/3D V-CACHE/AM5)
Motherboard
GIGABYTE X870E AORUS ELITE WIFI7 (AM5, DDR5, M.2 PCIe 5.0, Wi-Fi 7) No real point in going for X870 over B650, so you either want the X870E or you can dial back to the TUF B650 without losing much
Memory (RAM)
32GB Corsair VENGEANCE RGB DDR5 6000MHz CL36 (2 x 16GB) 32GB will be ample for a purely gaming build
Graphics Card
16GB ZOTAC GEFORCE RTX 5080 SOLID OC - HDMI, 3 x DP Down to personal preference, I wouldn't personally recommend spending £200 on a particular GPU variant as they will be within a few % of each other regardless
1st M.2 SSD Drive
1TB SOLIDIGM P44 PRO GEN 4 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD (up to 7000MB/sR, 6500MB/sW)
1st M.2 SSD Drive
4TB CORSAIR CORE XT MP600 NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD (up to 5000 MB/R, 4400 MB/W)
Power Supply
CORSAIR 1200W HXi SERIES™ MODULAR 80 PLUS® PLATINUM V2 Ideally I would go for the 1000W here, but PCS are currently using the older ATX2.4 model here, if they had the ATX3.1 1000W that would be the choice, this means we're going to the 1200W to allow for GPU upgrades down the line.

thanks for the advice, do you think the case is a good choice, i have leant towards Phantek and Coolermaster in the past. and also how about adding extra fans. or is the number of fans the standard case comes with is a good option.

I agree with the 1200w power supply, and still want the 64GB Ram.. but with the change in graphics card, I can get the 64gb ram and the 1200w power supply within the budget.

What do you need 64Gb RAM for?

Increasing RAM beyond what the programs can use doesn’t improve performance in any way, it just sits there unused.

There's no games currently that even use anywhere near 32Gb, the max is around 24Gb. Only a couple of professional SIMs require higher than 32Gb

no specific reason i prefer the number 64 to 32..
it isn't really a performance thing. I just look at possible upgrade areas.

but more importantly was about the case itself and whether i need to add extra fans.

So the extra RAM is literally pointless, it's like having a 5th wheel for a car just in case it may need it in the future. It's never going to be of any value.

The O11 is one of the best cases on the market and has been for many years.

You only get the 3 side fans included I believe, personally I would add a 4 pack of the Link fans since you've got a Link cooler, they'll all run off the same controller.

Looks good.

There is a minor bump in performance at 6400MHz if you really want to splash out, no gains in gaming above that.
