What do you guys think of this? It looks great. You use it to get rid of a lot of crap that comes with windows you don't use or need. I've just started to use it.

I'd be cautious initially.

Reason being is that: https://github.com/flick9000/winscript/graphs/contributors?from=2024-06-09&to=2025-02-07&type=a

So far it hasn't been peer reviewed, and the creator is the only one who's made any contributions and commits so far. It was only published 5 days ago.

I wouldn't do anything from that website you linked, do everything from the official github which gets peer reviewed, and is also scanned by AI for any commits to attempt to minimise nefarious code injections (some do inevitably slip through at times)

It's also a little concerning that the web seems to have been flooded with articles on this as of 2 days ago, but if you look at the source of some of them, they're stated as ChatGPT such as here:

Reason I'd be cautious is that they've had issue with peoples accounts being compromised, and known respected contributors to open source repositories have suddenly posted back doors into major things like the Linux Kernel

With the way worldwide tensions are at the moment, I'd just be cautious, definitely bookmark it, but all it's doing is shortcuts to things you can do yourself very easily.

If you want an unbloated windows install, simply select Worldwide English as the system language on first setup, that leaves out all the bloatware apps.

Cheers for letting me know. I'll uninstall it till more is known about it.
Didn't know about selecting Worldwide English as the system language on first set up of windows to leave out bloatware apps!!!
Will definitely be selecting that option when doing a fresh clean install win 11 build after I get my new pc

If you'd already installed it, I wouldn't take any chances and do a full clean install now personally.

I would but only got 1 m2 drive for os and games on my present pc. It's a nightmare to reinstall games etc when you have average broadband speeds.
Hopefully my new pc will come in a week or so.

Well, you could buy an m.2 SSD and move all you games over to it (and redirect your game launchers to address the new location), then just transfer that over to your new machine, do the same for the newly installed game launchers.

OMG I never thought of that. Great idea! Can you recommend a decent m.2 SSD? You do mean external right? I have a z170 pro gaming mb which has 1 m.2 slot

I've got a Samsung T5 portable SSD but it's only 500GB and I have at least 1tb of games stored.

Would have said a Crucial X8/X9/X10…but it seems a waste as you can’t then use it as an internal drive.

2TB Crucial X9 for £105

The other alternative is to buy a 1-2TB m.2 and put it in a USB enclosure temporarily, then remove it from the case and put it in the new PC. This will work out more expensive, but you end up with a much faster SSD.

2TB Crucial P3 Plus for £99

Sabrent USB m.2 enclosure for £15

Ugreen USB m.2 enclosure for £15

Was gonna say you could buy an internal 2.5" SATA SSD, but this is a much better idea to get a decent NVME and put it in a chassis.

I've just found my old m.2 drive adapta xpg sx8200 pro 1TB. I'll use this one.

Which of the two enclosures should I get? My MB is z170 pro gaming

That m.2 will be fine for you games transfer (are you getting another in your new build?), and either enclosure will be fine too, just choose whichever you like the look of.

They're both aluminium which will help to act as a heatsink for the drive, as @TonyCarter says, it's really down to personal preference.
I'm a huge fan of UGreen, they tend to be really high quality and reliable for the money, but Sabrent are no slouch either.
They're both toolless which is important also.
So it really is down to personal preference.

I will be getting the 4TB CORSAIR MP600 PRO NH NVMe PCIe M.2 SSD (up to 7000 MB/R, 6500 MB/W) for my build.

So you'll have the option of keeping the XPG one as an external/internal storage drive.
I will be adding the xpg as a 3rd drive to my MB to store my digital comics and book collection. I've will be getting the GIGABYTE X870E AORUS ELITE WIFI7 MB. Just have to be careful on the MB where I insert it as I read somewhere that certain slots share with the GPU?

As long as it shares bandwidth and doesn't disable it, then there won't be any slowdown...as even at 8x, PCIe 5.0 will be the same speed as an older PCIe 4.0 slot running x16...so more than enough for both a RTX5090 and a gen 5 PCIe SSD.
