PCSPECIALIST X3D Performance Issues - How to Fix

    That's a very good point.

PCSPECIALIST Recoil 16 - I think I'm finally ready to commit!

I think with your Warranty PCS will stand by you - the HX does run at a lower power than the K variant as it's laptop vs desktop. You'll need the water cooler otherwise you will hit throttling issues when running under load. Ditch the Norton trial - it's little better than malware these days...

PCSPECIALIST X3D Performance Issues - How to Fix

There are circumstances where an AMD X3D processor might not be performing as expected, here's an excellent video from Jaz2Cents explaining the problem and how to fix it.

    PCSPECIALIST Review of Recoil i9/RTX4080

I have last year's model with the 13900HX with RTX 4080. Webcam covers are a placebo - when the camera is in use there's an activity light next to it. Still, if it gives you peace of mind.... I don't miss the fingerprint reader as I use the Windows Hello facial recognition. An excellent...

Yeah the H150 should do it.

PCSPECIALIST CPU has decided to become a fry cook

Some AIOs get clogged even though they are supposed to be sealed systems. If you got the PC from PC Specialist you should contact them.

PCSPECIALIST Videographer moving from Mac to PC… Help?

Yep - would say the same. Dodgy advice indeed.

PCSPECIALIST Ryzen 9000 officially announced for July 31st Release

I expect the 9950X will stomp over everything. It will be the No. 1 desktop CPU until/unless intel can top it in their next gen CPUs. Jayz2Cents did PBO testing of the 9700X and got around a 10% performance boost but the power draw doubled. Efficiency is moot in a desktop system so not sure...

PCSPECIALIST Ryzen 9000 officially announced for July 31st Release

I understand what you are saying but benchmarks done by Jayz2Cents showed they were up there with the best on single thread but way behind on multithreaded benchmarks. Yes the e-cores are weaker, but more power efficient, than the p-cores and not hyperthreaded either but they will still make a...

PCSPECIALIST Ryzen 9000 officially announced for July 31st Release

Yeah - big difference in TDP.

PCSPECIALIST Ryzen 9000 officially announced for July 31st Release

The single core performance looked good but these are lacking cores compared to their Intel equivalents leading to disappointing benchmarks. Lets see what the higher core counts of 9900X and 9950X look like. That could be where the real gains are ... we should find out next week.

PCSPECIALIST Putting my money where my mouth is

Yep, was going to mention this. If you get a water spill, with any basically clean water, on your system it should be OK if powered off immediately (or ASAP) dried off and left for a couple of days you should be good to go. Linus from LTT has had such a thing happen in his basement server rack...

PCSPECIALIST Videographer moving from Mac to PC… Help?

I'd go with the P44 SSDs for the better speed.

PCSPECIALIST Videographer moving from Mac to PC… Help?

Just a starting point. There's room in the £2K for something a bit better. A decent AIO might be the better option thinking about it.

PCSPECIALIST Videographer moving from Mac to PC… Help?

If you need something NOW that you would not go far wrong with something like this. The HDD is included for storage - not for your work files. We're a week or 2 away from the AMD 9950X which would give you better performance and would be better bang for buck. Case CORSAIR 4000D AIRFLOW...

    PCSPECIALIST Pre-Configured Video Editing PC

This one would work better as a video editing rig and is within your £2000 absolute max. More cores 16 rather than just 8, 3D cache not needed as already discussed. 3D cache limits thermal headroom as it physically sits on top of the CPU within the package. AM5 socket for future...

PCSPECIALIST Intel 13th/14th Gen CPU Degradation Issue and RMA

Assuming PCS replace the CPU it's also possible they will want to update and adjust BIOS settings to minimise the risk going forward with said replacement CPU. You may well be capable of replacing and tuning your CPU and system as required but to be fair to PCS - they don't know that and for...

    PCSPECIALIST My new monster :-)

Like I said - don't hold your breath. Where silicon is degraded by being over-volted, yes, the microcode will not fix it. You're done and will have to run under-powered for stability - I expect Intel will resist RMAs as much as possible - they've been behaving rather badly on this issue...

    PCSPECIALIST My new monster :-)

There is supposed to be a fix coming down the line in a couple of weeks by way of a BIOS update but the way Intel have been behaving around this I would not hold your breath. As the others have said - AMD is where it's at at the moment.
