Ok I will do.
BTW Manjaro (arch), and Pop_OS (Deb) both prompt to install Nvidia drivers via the initial OS setup. I've also tried rolling back, and experimentals too. Gaming on Linux has come a long way thanks to Steam/Proton. So much so that the SteamDeck console will be launched next year...
Ok. Would you like me to delete Steam, then reinstall. Or would you like me to reinstall Windows, apply all updates and configurations, and then install Steam?
To all: firstly, thank you so very much for your time. I've been convince from the start that this isn't a software/OS problem. The...
Back again.
Deleted all partitions and installed Windows 10 Home (via Microsoft link provided above). Installed all Windows updates. Installed latest Nvidia driver. Installed Steam. Downloaded Arma 3. Played for 3 minutes (silky smooth, high frames, everything on ultra settings (defaults), 2k...
All done. Nothing looked untoward. The 2 ram sticks aren't placed together (there's 4 slots, they are placed on slot 1 and 3, or 2 and 4 depending on which way is up). I'm guessing this is fine and perhaps better for heat dissipation.
Other than installing a second SSD I haven't poked around inside. To be clear: you want me to ONLY check the power connections and replace them back in, or check those AND remove the GPU and replace?
Good morning.
Installed Windows 10 Home via the link above. Didn't copy over any settings or files from windows.old folder. Played 3-4 minutes of Arma 3 (re-downloaded via fresh Steam install) before crashing to desktop :/
Oh really! I specifically searched for demos via MS website and all they presented was Enterprise edition for a 90 day trial.
Downloading now. Many thanks!
I made this crystal clear already: "BTW the Home edition isn't 'legit' (the updates applied are). I have zero interest in using Windows past troubleshooting. There's no trial version of Home or Pro (only for Enterprise, hence the previous install). Please don't tell me you want me to drop £120...
Sure. A friend gave me a USB thumbstick with an .iso mounted. There was no key to apply (I assume it must be baked into the iso (or has code to navigate the requirement within the iso). Either way, I installed and let Windows connect online to run all updates. There's no nags or complaints from...
"I dread to think how many PC's PCS have produced of this configuration since these CPU & GPU were released"
Right!
Could it be a problem at bios level that I've inadvertently caused?
So the build arrived with Windows installed (I requested no OS as I wanted to run Linux). I asked PCS to...
