good on them, they know they screwed up. Would not be surprised if there was a market recall on those cards to be fair. It is some fatal flaw in design.
the PCIe slot itself can provide somewhere around 75-100W of power, the corsair kit cable that was linked here is supposed to handle 300W, so it is really all you need
in my old pc i had 2x8 pin as one single cable, but i was using 1080TI so it was fine. My gf just got a brand new 6800xt, and for that card we decided to double the cables. As this new card has much higher wattage usage it seems
well it depends how that cable is made. If it is designed to handle 300W of power, all is good. If that cable is designed for 150W and it is literally daisy chained 2x6 pins at the end, you risk a melt of those cables. This is why it is not advised to ever daisy chain power cables, but use one...
if you got 3090 EVGA, definitely do that, from my understanding that was the main cause of the issue, bad safety features on the card and unlimited fps in loading.
gotta enable global FPS cap via RivaTuner :D especially if you use gsync or freesync, having max fps 3-5 fps below max refresh rate is good, as it forces those technologies to be always on and have all the benefits.
someone mentioned on one of the streams i been watching that amazon fixed the issue.
Also the issue was affecting a lot more GPUs than just EVGA3090, seems like bunch of AMD cards been affected too, possibly evga again
well, luckily for me, i have permanently capped FPS using RivaTuner Statistics to 97fps, 3 fps bellow max refresh rate of my monitor. Because i want to keep G-Sync always on. So unlimited fps in loading screen is never gonna happen for me.
But this is really stupid. I dont think this is amazon...
i mean it would be weird if Tech Jesus did not have a look into this :D and yeah hardware unboxed too, the golden PC trio with Digital Foundry trailing
could be oversight, it seems like Jay gonna test this himself, willingly risk destroying 3090, so we might get some interesting info from him in future
Looks like you are advised to turn on VSYNC no matter what, even if you have gsync pc or you want unlimited fps. As it seems the loading is causing to render thousands of FPS which overloads the GPU and blows it out
There has been several reports that the New World beta is causing permanent damage to 3090 EVGA GPUs by possibly blowing out caps.
This issue might be affecting also other 30k series gpu.
JayzTwoCents made video on it
Beware! This game could brick your GPU! WARNING!
