So its not for everyone but if you don't mind a refurb (usually opened returns, ive bought from these guys before) you can get the HP Omen X 27 for an absolute steal on eBay atm
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/193630935905
Use code POPUPOCT20 to save an extra 20% too so total price for the monitor...
I think I'm going for the Omen X 27, I'm not a fan of the curved screens.
Thanks guys! Just gotta wait for the money to return to my bank and then I can buy.
So looking to return my Rog Strix 27 XG279Q and get a 1440p 240hz instead.
Seem to have narrowed it to either the Samsung G7 27 or the HP Omen X 27?
Thoughts?
If you can, I'd recommend extending that guide out to recommend a few compatible monitor choices I thought my choice was good now it looks like I'm going to have to cancel that part and order elsewhere.
Hey Spyder, so I just saw this guide: https://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/forums/threads/3000-series-gpus-do-you-need-a-3080.72666/
Are you saying that the monitor I've chosen isn't right for a 3080? I believe the monitor overclocks to 170hz if that makes a difference but if its a 144hz card surely...
To those of us who have purchased new builds, what are you currently running/upgrading from.
I built a PC in April in 2016, here are my specs:
Case
SHARKOON BD28 GAMING CASE (Green LED)
Processor (CPU)
AMD FX-9590 Eight Core CPU (4.7GHz-5.0GHz/16MB CACHE/AM3+)
Motherboard
ASUS® 970 PRO...
Good to know.. I have been looking into monitors but was told that 4k wasn't quite worth it, I mainly play FPS games and from my research it seems 1440p and 144hz is the sweetspot.. either way I'm currently running three ACER 60hz on an arm mount side by side so I reckon the bigger/faster...
I've ordered this, I did google first and PCS was actually the cheapest place for it.
Why do ASUS name their monitors so similarly though, it's really confusing.
It says it is GSYNC Compatible but I was led to believe that a monitor cannot be both gsync and freesync as they are different...
Only you can answer those questions. I haven't seen any benchmarks for the 3070.
I believe the 3080 that PCS install are Palit, I've ordered a ROG Strix so obviously thats Asus.
Also I ordered on October 7th and my build is estimated for Friday so I'll let you know if it changes.
If it goes on...
R/Choosingbeggars is full of such stories. Problem is there are actually very few 'influencers' that get things for free.
Personally I have no problem paying for something and reviewing it, I actually did this once on a chinese camera I got to use with a motorcycle, I posted a review on the...
Maybe it's just me but I always treat this with suspicion when 'influencers' recommend anything, especially when they are praising it.
I follow Linustechtips as well as JayzTwocents and find that they give much more impartial reviews, especially linus who, due to multiple sponsorships and his...
I've ordered a Gsync Asus Rog Strix Monitor too so I feel a bit deflated, I guess I could probably swap for a Freesync monitor.. I'll review the options just in case.
At this rate I might save enough by switching to a full AMD build that I can afford to change the monitor, CPU and card.
I do wonder when the Big Navi sale date will be, I know the launch/announcement is tomorrow.
I figured I'd go back to Nvidia after supporting AMD for years, noticed alot of streamers tend to use Nvidia but blaming unprecedented demand when you release a card that completely annihilates anything...
I've been keeping an eye on this website: https://www.nowinstock.net/computers/videocards/nvidia/rtx3080/
I'm yet to see anyone report has having stock and any on eBay are being scalped, its disgusting.
I had an email stating an estimated building date of today and then got another over the weekend stating it would be Friday.
I have pre-ordered the Rog Strix 3080.
Not sure if the emails are automated and I'm just getting my hopes up?
I had a friend who moved to Australia and his system was left for 6 months, when he got it he said he checked for leaks, made sure nothing had worked loose and then powered it on and monitored the temperatures to make sure there was no air leaks etc.
Not sure if he had a full open loop or not...
I built my PC a while ago using the configuration tool and at one point chose a Wifi card, on checkout I was advised that this wasn't required as the Mobo already had WIFI built in, Result!
I made changes to various aspects of the build and proceeded with the order, it may be that I changed the...
