Frustrating... my last few 5 day Ionico updates have moved the build date out by around 5 days each time... dont seem to be getting much closer. In addition to covid, could this be due to fast track orders slipping in front?
I had same dilemma and went with ionico 15 with an rtx 3070... hopefully get it in the next few weeks.
If cost is not an issue, another mainstream manufacturer offers a Ryzen 9, rtx3080, 32gb ram and 1tb hd for £2600 end of march. Too expensive for me though.
I was looking at the same models for VR and potential 4k tv gaming? But with 32Gb and two M.2 Samsung SSD's.
Ended up going with the Ionico 15.
Rationale:
- Preferred qhd
- Issues with (Tongfang) Vyper 17 (not 15) which may or may not be resolved for Ionico 17? Vyper 15 apparently well...
And a third email today. Whilst not good news and nothing new, you cant fault their customer communication over an issue they have little or no control:
but unfortunately we are awaiting stock on the following items:
TongFang GM5MG7Y (8GB RTX-3070, i7-10875H, 165Hz QHD, Blank KB) -...
And just as I posted I had a second email from PCS stating build date of 3rd March. Let's hope they dont rush the build and risk quality due to a large number of 30 series laptops all planned to start that day...
My 5 day email update today mentions increased production leadtimes but no mention of missing parts, supply issues or significant delay? Bit surprised. I expect I'll see it sometime late march rather than late feb. But who knows? No hurry.
Just to share info considering a few posts. I ordered an Ionico 15 (3070) on the 10th Feb. I had an email on the 13th advising build on the 25th. It is currently showing as pre-production with a build time of 5 days in my order details.
The I15 is also now showing 3rd Mar for new orders.

Ok. I will probably order this in the next couple days. Mainly general laptop use, Oculus Quest 2 VR with MSFS20 and HL Alyx being the main candidates. Possibly connect to 4k/60hz tv via hdmi 2.0 on occasion.
Does anyone have any comments, advice or recommendations?

Yes. Nursemorph kindly ran the quotes for me with the following chassis data from PCS:
Ionico 15": TongFang GM5MG0Y (6GB RTX-3060, i7-10875H, 165Hz QHD, Blank KB)
Ionico 15": TongFang GM5MG7Y (8GB RTX-3070, i7-10875H, 165Hz QHD, Blank KB)
Ionico 17": TongFang GM7MG0P (6GB RTX-3060, i7-10875H...
Checking the (ionico 17) 3070 Tongfang chassis GM7MG7P on noteb.com (whoever they are?) Suggests 115w...
They only have the 15" in 3080 flavour... again 115w.
Fingers crossed 115w from PCS.
Thanks. I'll have a think. May just bite the bullet before senior management purchasing permission is withdrawn rather than risk waiting? Fancied a 17" qhd but 15" qhd rtx 3070 32gb 1Tb sounds lower risk and if I'm honest is probably more than adequate considering my planned usage.

Thanks. Not much on the internet, especially for the 15. The 17 appears to have been launched in March 20 so may not be the latest TongFang chassis as being discussed on some forums???
Do these chassis numbers align with the problematic Vypers?
Were there any issues with the Vyper 15?
