I only ordered a card, not a computer, and was expecting them to ship it today as I was told it was in stock both online and over the phone. It's only Monday though, perhaps it's normal for it to take a few days.
Thanks for the info - I'm happy to be corrected (and yeah, games like RDR and Control were exactly what I was looking at). I'm sure it'll pain you to hear I've bought a 3090 but have a 1440p monitor!
In my defence, I buy for VR, specifically my Valve Index. The 2080ti wasn't able to support the...
Is it really overpowered for 1440p though?
Even the 3080 doesn't do 60fps 4k on all games, but it does perform very well at 1440p so you could really make use of a 144hz monitor. The 3070 is obviously going to be weaker than the 3080 so I feel a high refresh rate rate 1440p would be the sweet...
I got the 3090 as it was the only card in stock at the time. It's overkill for me really but I still think it's an excellent card considering it outperforms the Titan RTX for £1000 less.
For anyone interested, PCS told me over the phone that they were buying 3080s/90s from as many companies as they could, so they had Palit, Gigabyte, Asus, Zotac etc. Unfortunately, they wouldn't let me put in a preference as to which card they sent me so it's a bit of a gamble.
Was happy to be...
Apparently the 3090 is ready and available to ship from PCSpecialist. Does anyone know what brand they have in stock? I don't wanna pay £200 above MSRP for a Palit card.
Edit: Took the risk and bought it
Customer opinion of PCSpecialist
I ordered a high-end gaming PC from PCSpecialist (pictured below) about a month ago. I've had it for a few days now and can give a fair review of the product and service which I hope will help any prospective buyers! I usually build my own computers, but as I...
I can't speak for laptops, but for 10 years I've built gaming PCs which have been pushed to the limit of their capabilities in gaming and video editing. I've never once had to repaste. Of course, it depends on the quality of thermal paste you use.
Best thing to do is monitor your temperatures...
GOOD? Mate what you have there will be one BEAST of a PC. I just bought a high end PC from pcspecialist and I do have a few recommendations based on the fact you're spending so much on this system. I'll start with the most important one:
Contact PCS and ask what model 2080ti they have in stock...
Just a word of advice from a fellow customer - I would recommend reaching out to PCS and asking what model 2070 super you will get. If you ask in the live chat, they should send you a link to whatever they have in stock. You can then go and look at reviews for that model. In case you didn't...
I always choose to install my own retail version of Windows because that way I can install whilst disconnected from the internet (so they don't automatically install garbage onto my PC), and I can opt out of all the spyware. I assume it's something to do with this because you don't know what has...
No you do not make monthly repayments in the first 12 months.
Instead, you have the option to repay the full balance at any time before 12 months. You have to pay a £29 settlement fee when you do this. If you have not paid the remaining balance within 12 months, you will have to make monthly...
My friend paid this way. You can pay the full balance within 12 months without paying any interest. You will have to pay a settlement fee of about £20 if you do this but that's a very reasonable price for credit.
Just make sure you do pay it all off within 12 months or you'll face some hefty...
Although, of course, the warranty doesn't avoid "all that". All it does is cover the collection fees if you notice a fault 6-12 months after purchase, as you said yourself, you are already covered by the CRA for the first 6 months so you're not getting any value from the warranty in that time...
If you notice a fault within 6 months from the date of delivery, the Consumer Rights Act gives you the right to a repair/replacement and the associated costs (collect and return) must be paid by the retailer. After 6 months, you can still claim back the cost of collect and return if you can...
It will be able to handle VR but you will struggle with some titles. VR gaming at the minimum requirements is more likely to cause nausea and performance issues are far more noticeable than in flatscreen gaming.
I would definitely push for the Ryzen 7 2700x and 2060 super if your budget...
I see people suggesting to upgrade the warranty all the time but what advantage do we actually get for paying extra? It seems wasteful to me.
The lowest level may "only be £5" but it barely offers us anything which we're not already entitled to with our statutory rights.
