Thanks for all the help everyone!

I just have a couple of quick questions before I place an order. I've taken everything everyone has said into consideration and gone with your build @Steveyg - Thanks for your help once again.

Is it worth filling the extra 4 fan slots with fans? This is purely going off the more fans more cooling logic. Please be patient with me 😅

Why does it need two M2.SSD's? Is one for the OS and the other for games? Does this work better? The only reason I ask is for my own knowledge 🙂

I've gone for the SAMSUNG Odyssey G9 Neo LS49AG950NUXXU Quad HD 49" Curved QLED Gaming Monitor - Hopefully this is the best synchronisation possible with the budget.

Just need a last thumbs up from everyone really before I go ahead! 😁

Having two separate drives has a couple of main benefits, firstly it means you can reinstall the OS without having to reinstall all your games, secondly, the PC works a bit better.

One drive means any communication has to sit in the queue, having two means the OS can do its thing and you have a second lane that the game then runs off, so doesnt have to queue behind whatever else the PC may be talking to the OS drive about (at least, thats my understanding of it...Scott explained it all one day)

Be cautious of extra fans, sometimes more isnt more and they interfere with airflow.
You'll have the cooler in the roof, and three intakes at the front (not sure if you gett a rear fan or not, dont think so but would have to check)
So see how it runs, fans are very easy to add in.

If adding extra fans, i'd start with just a rear extract first, see what its like with that.

Looking at it, and everything thats been said, I think you're good to go....

Also with regards to game drives, the new direct storage technology which essentially puts game assets straight onto the GPU VRAM rather than going via the CPU / RAM will enormously speed up game loads initially, but I have no doubt we don't fully realise the potential of this technology yet.

It's been implemented on the PS5 for years now and is pretty significant.

The secondary drive needs to be at least 1TB to enable it and you want the fastest drive possible.

You've no idea how jealous this setup makes me!

If you want to upgrade and cover the bases, chuck in the 2TB 530 drive for the secondary. Otherwise, it's gaming perfection.

I've just placed the order :LOL:

I think build times are around a week... so best get your desk all ready, cable tidies to hand and plan out how youre set it all up!

We'll expect to see photos and @AgentCooper gives extra points for spotless desks and RGB overload.
Remember to check everything over when you get it, often helpful to unseat and reseat the RAM and GPU (can wiggle loose in transport sometimes) and dont forget to attach the WiFi antennas and all that windows update jazz.

Then a full write up, 1000 words on how you love your new PC.....

I will do you all proud! lol.

Would the following be a good idea? (I've already placed the order and have a chance to amend)

32GB Corsair VENGEANCE RGB PRO DDR4 3200MHz (4 x 8GB)
down_right_arrow.gif
Change to: 32GB Corsair VENGEANCE RGB PRO DDR4 3600MHz (2 x 16GB)

I'd actually receive a £20 credit note for this? or is it 4x8 for a reason?

Logic being it leaves 2 future slots for upgrade? Plus mhz gain? Once again. Purely curious.

The RAM that PCS use mean 3200MHz and 3600MHz are actually -very- similar, due to 3200MHz being CL16 and 3600MHz being CL18 the performance difference is very small. If you're at all interested in overclocking the RAM (which wont always work) some have had success getting 3600MHz RAM down to CL16, at which point its a clear lead over 3200MHz.

So you wont see a massive boost in performance, however, having the 2 sticks gives you the ability to upgrade later without having to replace it all (should you ever want to do that) and if its giving you £20 back to go 3600MHz its a bit of a no brainer.
Id do it.

@Aza - Big thanks. I've learnt a lot on these forums over the past couple of days.

Right then, thanks to you all I can finally put my anxiety to rest and crack the tools out. Time to get started on the walnut desktop!

( And yes, the price saving is going to be cos you're taking 2 sticks of RAM, not 4)

You're making it yourself?!?

OK, now you HAVE to give us photos of it all at the end...

What I lack in PC knowledge I make up for in joinery 😆 Look forward to you all seeing the end product.

Sorry to keep coming back with more questions..

I'm just going through peripherals etc - Do you think I need a UPS or an AVR to protect the system? Or should the PSU be sufficient? (Minus the battery ofc).

Thanks again.

Ups isn't required however make sure you plug in via a surge protector, as this is actually required by the warranty
