7970m ETA

I've really missed the boat. I leave the country to live in Canada for a year at least on 19th March, I just came to order a 15.6" Vortex III but the 7970m is out of stock now with an ETA of 6th March. I'm guessing I'd be cutting it extremely fine if I ordered now and just hoped for the best wouldn't I?

I really don't know what to do, I really had my heart set on this spec.

I just tried to call the PCS sales line but was on hold for too long so I gave up.

Go for the quick build & delivery option and you should be fine? Worse case scenario it's out of stock on the 6th and you have to opt for something else.

As Scoboy suggested you could use the fast track service to get your laptop quicker. If you wanted to call PCS again if you use the call waiting times page here: http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk/call-waiting/ You should be able to avoid waiting in a queue for too long!

I do think PCS will deliver to Canada though but I'd confirm that with them first.

Yeah good idea, I'm guessing if it doesn't get built then I can always get a refund and buy something when I get to Canada. Not ideal though.

If you select the fast track service and it doesn't get built in time PCS will certainly refund the fast track payment. Not sure how cancelling your order would work though. Best to speak to PCS directly about that I'd say. Although you've got a month before the big move, so as long as its built and despatched within 3 weeks you should be golden (and with the fast track 5 day service you'll be certain of that!).

I might just get the 680m instead, I'll make a decision tomorrow. Thanks for your suggestions.

 Just realised you said in your op that the 7970m was out of stock... sorry I entirely mis-judged the situation. In that case you may have to chose a difference graphics card (as you say, perhaps the 680m) as the 7970m wont be back in stock.

Apologies bud.

It's an expensive option but I really wanted something before I leave so may just have to go with the 680m. I'll justify it by selling my old PC components :)

I just called PCS and it's because the graphics cards come with the chassis, rather than individually. So basically I'll need to wait for a 15" chassis with a 7970m to come in stock.

I think I'll risk it and wait until 6th March then order with fast track. I'm just not sure I can justify the 680m.

Could you justify 17"?

Well I think it would be cheaper, but I just don't fancy something so big. It would be great to see the two side by side so I can compare but that's not going to happen. I might pop into a shop and see if they have any 17" laptops out so I can compare the two sizes side by side.
