advice please on replacement pc, but keeping old graphics card

Hi

I currently have a fairly old PC with an i7-7700k and GTX 1070. It suits my needs of light 1080p gaming (mostly old games) and office use but I'm looking to upgrade the system because of windows 10 ending support.

I don't really know much about computers so all advice welcomed please. The following spec is with the idea that I keep using the GTX 1070 for the time being, and also that I can upgrade the CPU several years later if need be.

Trying to keep the budget down below £750 (excluding a GPU).

A few specific questions please:
- I'm hoping I will be able to just put the 1070 into the new computer?
- I kept it at the default case because I don't really know what to look for. I expect a more expensive one will be much better so recommendations please?
- I'm not sure what the benefit of the B650 motherboard is compared to the cheaper A620?
- Is 32GB RAM too much?

I also need a new monitor (1080p) - are there are recommendations between the ones offered by PCS?

Thanks!

Yes, you'll be able to transfer the 1070 directly over. I would also consider if you could transfer any storage over.

Yes, a better case will be better. You can spend any amount! The 3000D for £15 more is worthwhile.

Better motherboards (and I'd recommend a better one still if you can) mean better connectivity (e.g. USB, networking, PCIe), longer-term support (e.g. BIOS updates that will allow you to upgrade the CPU), and better build quality (which should mean more longevity). Personally I'd go for the Gigabyte B850 board. The Prime B650 board is not exactly the greatest. It'll do at a pinch.

Yes, 32GB of RAM is standard these days. I'd suggest getting quicker RAM as well. It's not absolutely essential, but in the long term you'd probably regret not having it.

This PC is a mite over your budget, but spending the extra to my mind is well worth it if you want it to last.

As for monitors, there's nothing exciting going on in the 1080p space (you'd be better looking at 1440p for the future), but you could get the AOC 24G4XE for a ludicrous £80.
