Anyone help me build my first custom PC? (budget £1500 - £2000)

looking for someone to help me build my first custom pc? looking to spend between £1000 - £2000 hoping to aim for something that runs almost all games on high - ultra without frame drop, either intel or AMD (not sure whats better?) ideally its purely for gaming but also streaming sometimes?

id prefer the graphics card be from the 3000 series.

all help is appreciated ! thanks :)

Always happy to help someone spend a healthy budget. Couple of questions for you...

Do you have a monitor yet? If so, what’s the make and model or resolution and refresh rate? If you don’t, is there a separate budget for that or is it in the £2000 you’ve allocated for the system?

Any other uses for the system or is a pure gaming machine?

agentcooper i currently have a logik 1080p 60fps monitor, the 2000 budget would hopefully include a monitor ? entirely depends as i can always get the monitor another time to support it :)

and it would be for gaming and some streaming / recording videos for youtube / twitch

Okie dokie!

So what we have here is a great little system for gaming with a brand new processor, graphics card, and a healthy amount of fast storage. There’s enough grunt in the power supply that you’ll be able to upgrade it every few years, so the PC should last the best part of a decade.

You’ll be able to play whatever games you want and it’ll stream too, although if you get into streaming big time you may want to consider adding a capture card so you’ll be able to do so at higher quality.

The graphics card will match up nicely with a 1440p 144Hz monitor so you’ll want to put the money left over towards one of those (let us know if you need any recommendations). And then your current screen can become the secondary one, super handy for multi tasking and streaming.

oh wow that looks very good! and for a good price as well, i really like to look of that case aswell, i always struggled picking out like a processor as im never sure what was compatible / the best choices, especially for AMD/Intel ? id probably invest into a capture card sooner anyway. i would defiantly like your recommendation for a monitor?

i was thinking about buying parts separately and having it built that way? would you recommend that or?

If you’re thinking about doing a self build then forum rules mean I can’t advise. What I can tell you is that PC Specialist will build the above system for you by hand, test it and iron out any issues before they send it to you. Building it yourself can often involve a fair bit of troubleshooting. So if you’re not confident with that kind of thing having a custom build is the way forward.

As for a decent monitor to fit the build and budget, you can’t go wrong with the G5...

ah no worries! thank you very much for the help, ive been looking at videos and a self build seems too much so id probably buy the one you suggested and the monitor, maybe adding the capture card to that rig would be worth it in the long run?

as you said its good to upgrade and will last a good few years which is what im really looking for, as i dont wanna be buying parts every few months, and eventually upgrade to a top tier unit after awhile

i noticed that case can support 3 additional fans and would probably add them as well to keep a good air flow to prevent major dust built up? (sorry for being a pain)

Not a pain at all, that’s what the forum is for! 🙂👍

Adding extra fans can be a fruitless exercise, depending on the placement and the relative airflow. We’ve had a big old scientific chat about that recently on here recently. The amount of fans you have won’t make any difference to dust, that’s all environmental. You just want to make sure you’ve got good airflow to keep your system cool. You don’t need to add any extra fans to the above build but if you wanted a luxury cooling loop, you could change from the standard cooler to the H100i RGB Platinum.

You can always add an internal/external capture card easily at a later date. Might be worth seeing how your streams look in the current setup and if you go more ‘pro’ with it, the card is an easy add on 👍

Interesting, I may need to spend more time on this forum to learn more, just a video I watched said more fans can help with dust??

It's just a concern of over heating / risking cleaning it myself that gets a little concerning in the long run but I'll have to learn that lmao

In terms of getting one later, how easy / hard are they to install? If I were ti get one later down the line? As currently I run with OBS anyway but upgrading to either an internal elgato or external would be a good move

Na, dust filters and case choice help with dust.

An external capture card is just a matter of connecting up via USB. Internal one would require getting inside your case so would take a bit more effort. Wouldn’t be a huge job but I guess it depends on how comfortable you are with that kind of thing.

Probably not very? Depending on what's inside but I have a friend who could probably install one inside for me?

I really like the case you picked out, I was always stuck between that one and the prism-x RGB mid tower case, looking into buying dust filters, monitor and a new mouse a keyboard would be a necessity but would surpass my allotted budget, but I cannot extra into it for accessories

Do be aware of the PCS Terms & Conditions...

You could always add a capture card to the spec when you order...the Elgato Game Capture HD60 Pro is available via PCS..not cheap at £146 but is a good capture card and would save you the hassle of buying anf fitting one
With the build I was given adding the elgato to the built would stay within my budget so yeah saves the hassle of doing it myself
