Asus Rog Crosshair X870E Hero - with Nvidia Quadro M6000

Hi, i've been trying to run an Nvidia Quadro m6000 gpu on my Hero motherboard, have encountered problems - it reboots when trying to come out of sleep mode and some specialist software that I use for a lidar scanner doesn't work properly, i've tried a few drivers and updating the bios but nothing helped so ive removed the gpu for now and all works fine, i'd really like to use it though as it's a great graphics card

There are a few issues with the build that may be affecting it.

Have you done anything with windows like a reset or reinstall since you’ve had it?

Which driver versions have you tried?

Is there any reason you’re keeping that GPU as even an RTX 60 tier card would be significantly more powerful?

Not done a windows reset or re-install, i've tried nvidia_app_v11.0.3.241.exe, 572.83-quadro-rtx driver

I bought it fairly recently, maybe i should sell it on and buy another more recent crd

It’s over 10 years old now, and even new it was a low tier professional card just under the GTX980ti in performance.

Driver support for it ended in 2021

It would be utterly destroyed by an entry level modern desktop GPU.

What is it you're using it for? There are numerous issues with that build, I’m not certain it’s really suitable for your uses, I would cancel the order (which you can do no questions asked within 14 days of receipt) and get some advice on something better configured. That’s never going to work very well, the GPU is just an additional issue

Ok, thanks for that, I knew it was an old card but stupidly expected it to work, i've gone over the 14 day return and am quite happy with the pc anyway, so i'll probably stick with it. I primarily use the pc for cad work and importing lidar scans with the FJD Trion model software

You need to understand then that the cooler is not sufficient for the CPU, and the case isn’t suitable for the build. The PSU will also restrict you to a mid tier GPU.

The rest of the build is fairly premium but those 3 components don’t match it.

As a result you will likely get throttling certainly on the CPU, perhaps on the GPU too depending what you fit
