Bluetooth Power Failure Code 10

Good Afternoon

I was wondering if I could enlist some advice regarding a problem I have with my laptop.

Problem:

When I boot my laptop, Bluetooth is usually disabled (80% of the time), so my external mouse does not work - it is the only Bluetooth device I use. When I check device manager, it appears that the problem is being reported as a "Power Failure Code 10." A simple reboot solves the problem, and it works fine and will work for however long the laptop is powered on.

Other issues include sometimes slow reboots and shutdowns, such as when it sits on "Shutting Down" for a while.

What have I done:

Updated all drivers - did not solve
Reinstalled windows - did not solve

The reinstall was a partition wipe and reinstall from a fresh ISO download from Microsoft.

Any thoughts would be great.

Thanks

Paul

Firstly, open Device Manager, expand the Bluetooth section and locate your keyboard in that list. Right-click on it, select Properties from the list, and then click the Power Management option tab. Ensure that 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' checkbox is NOT checked

If that doesn't help then see whether your keyboard has its own driver. Update that driver to the latest version. It may work with the default Windows driver but you won't get advanced features, like power management.

Change the batteries in the keyboard, even if you changed them only recently.

Hi

I have checked the power management on the Intel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) entry in Device Manager, which shows the Code 10 error. Yes, the 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' option is NOT checked.

I am unsure if the mouse will cause the problem, given that the physical adapter says "Power Failure."

Thanks

Change the mouse batteries and update the mouse driver.

This really does look like a keyboard (mouse?) device or driver problem. I would check for a Bluetooth driver update and a wireless card driver update as well.

TBH this is why I now use a wired keyboard....

Hi

I updated the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi drivers to the latest. There are no drivers for the mouse but no joy. I have even removed the mouse from the system, and it still happens. i.e. unpaired it so no Bluetooth devices are attached.

Today, it took 4 minutes on "Restarting...." before the laptop shut down and restarted. As soon as it reboots, Bluetooth and the Card Reader automatically work again, which means the external mouse works again.

I am starting to wonder if this is the start of hardware failure.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks

Paul

Your windows is messed up, looks like several drivers are borked.

I'd just suggest a clean install.

Doubt very much if it's a hardware issue, simply drivers.

Thanks @SpyderTracks. I have already done a clean Windows install from a USB stick onto a blank partition, and it's not helped. It doesn't seem to matter what version of drivers that are installed.

Fresh download from Microsoft onto USB
Boot from USB
Delete all partitions on the hard drive
Let Windows setup create the partition as it installs

Sorry

Reinstall one was done using the original drivers supplied with the laptop from PCS.
Reinstall two was using the latest, all downloaded from the web before reinstalling.

I would try another clean install, ONLY use optional updates to install drivers.

Disconnect any peripherals attached to the device. Don’t install any software at all.

Then test adding the Bluetooth device
