After completeing 19 updates I got the Standard BSOD "A problem has been detected and Windows has been sutdown to prevent damage etc.
Tried "Launch System Repair" got "Unable to repair" so tried System Restore. No good
I use Macrium reflect so restored my last image made on 13th June. Completed OK but on reboot get the same BSOD again
Any thoughts please?

What was the stop error code?

Did you restore the Windows System Partition as well as the C:\ partition? If you did I would think it's possibly a hardware issue? Perhaps it's time for you to run Memtest ;) Might be worth letting it run overnight. I think you can probably discount the updates since it's happening after a full disk image restore. Interesting. :)

Did run memtest all OK. Other things led me to believe that I had a BIOS problem. Spoke to Support at PCS. 30 seconds later problem solved I had IDE set. Brilliant, fast and accurate advice.

How did that happen?

Can't quite work that out but will give it more thought today. Was showing someone around my set up yesterday and showing off my speedy SSD. Might well have been me! But I'm sure I didn't go into that part of the BIOS. Parhaps there is another route to alter the AHCI to IDE!

Oh well, at least it's sorted. :)

Indeed it is! And I was so pleased that is was solved so quickly that I have just signed up to Infinity Broadband. My download speed has been around the 17 MB mark and will likely go up to 65MB. We shall see what BT can do by the end of the month. I led a campaign to get broadband into our small market town some time ago and considering I was told at the time that there was no way BT were going to get broadband into our local exchange we succeeded in the end to get a 1MB connection to just over 400 phones. We've come a long way since then!
