Computer Repair

I recently encontered a problem with my PC Specialist desktop, and arranged a collectioon date for repair. It was collected a few weeks back, and I am still waiting for it to be sent back to me. I am posting here in order to ask a few questions, since neither e-mailing nor contacting the 'Live Help' on the PC Specialist website seems to be working (after leaving an e-mail the other day, and having no reply as of yet)

My main concern is the price of repair. Since I ordered my desktop around this time last year, I am concerned whether the warranty running out will mean I will have to pay for the repair, even thought my dekstop was sent off for repair before the warranty void date

My second concern is the time schedule. I recieved an e-mail just after I sent off my desktop stating that the motherboard needed to be replaced. This e-mail stated it would take 8-10 days for this part to arrive. It has since past this 8-10 day time frame and yet I still have not heard from PC Specialist themselves, stating whether it has been fixed/dispatched/etc.

If anyone has had any similar problems in the past, I would like to hear about it, as it may shed some light on how much longer I am going to be waiting for my computer and how much (if anything) this repair is going to cost me

Hello,

First off, have you tried calling. simplest method.

Second, if the motherboard in your pc is end of life, it will have to be sent to the manufacturers for repair / replacement. While we chase the manufacturers constantly t0o try and expedite such returns, they will return the board when a: they have fixed it b: when they have a replacement if they can’t fix it, which in the case of asus means waiting for one to be sent from the far east if they don’t have one in the uk buffer stock.

Finally, if you sent your pc when it was in warranty, then you will not be charged.

Unfortunately, we are in the hands of our supplier, waiting for feedback just like you. When this happens it's really frustrating, for you and us. Not all suppliers are as quick as we'd like. We want nothing more than to fix the problem and return everything back to you!

I can tell you that the guy who handles the Returns is very efficient and organised. As soon as we have an update he will contact you.
