Computer won’t wake from sleep

Hi There, I got my new desktop last week and unfortunately my son managed to get a crypto mining Trojan and Root kit from Minecraft mods almost immediately, so I had to reformat the machine and reinstall windows.

I am guessing that this is the cause of the problem I am facing but not 100% sure.

If I put the machine to sleep from the start menu it will turn off (although the graphics card and memory RGB lights are still on).

However, when I try to resume by either pressing the power button on the case or pressing a key on keyboard/mouse nothing happens.

Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?

Thanks for any suggestions.

If you fully shut the PC down and restart it does the power button function as you would expect?

The power button will turn the machine on (when it is off) and if you press it when the machine is on it will shut the machine down.

If you look in your power settings (windows key, type/search for power, edit power plan) what do you see there? Anything that might indicate why its not working?
