Coolermaster H500M Front Fan: Rattling on start up and under load

Hi guys! Firstly, my previous crashing issue has never happened since, so thankfully that one is in the rear view mirror.

My H500M case has some great air flow and the liquid cooling keeps all my components <70c which is brilliant. However, about a month ago, the front fan started rattling on start up and under load. The rattle sounds A LOT like the fan blades are hitting against the mesh at the front, but im not completely sure.

My explanation is horrible, so I've attached a video (hosted in google drive) that does a better job of showing the problem:

Things I've noticed:

* Rattling happens on start up and as soon as the PC has booted, it fades out.
* Rattling happens under load

If I wedge my copy of Paolo Coelho's "The Alchemist" under the right hand side of the PC (yes, a low tech solution!!), it reduces the rattling significantly. It still rattles a little on startup but no longer under load. I've been all around the case to make sure everything is clicked in place and nothing is out of place as far as I can tell.

Wondering if anyone has any wisdom for me? Thanks.

PS: Excuse the mess of my house, I'm in the middle of moving and furniture has been moved that should never have been moved. :'(

Edit: Full specs in case it's helpful:

Sounds like the fan hitting a shroud or part of the case/cover.

Can you see anything if you pop off the front/side covers to investigate?

I'll get looking. I'm something of a novice so if anyone has any good guides for removing the front panel from the case, please point it my way!

Worked it out! I have an apology to make to the fans on the front of my case. Added a video with narration to explain what it was.

BONUS POINTS - what is that little lever thing under the graphics card that was causing the issue? It doesn't look much like it does anything.

Runs like a gem now. Thanks for the push to taking the casing off. I think I knew I needed to do it but didn't want to in case I broke something haha. Every day is a school day!

That’s a different case & card to mine, I don’t have that lever, mine is just held in by the PCI socket & rear expansion slot.

I only recognised the sound as a FunkoPop I put in was slightly touching a GPU fan. It was fine when I put in and started it to test, but it just moved a little when I moved the PC back into its normal position. Of course it wasn’t obvious, because when I repositioned the PC to open it up again, the FunkoPop had moved yet again. Finally fixed it with some tiny cable ties stopping it from shifting position.

The Lever wasn't really holding it in either. It was just kind of, hovering there.

Either way, absolutely no rattle! Glad I got to the bottom of that one, it was driving me crazy.

Thanks again PCS gurus!

That arm is a support for long/heavy GPUs.

It just adjusts up/down and swings out to rest underneath (by the looks of the picture in Section 11 of the manual). You then tighten the screws to keep it in place and stop any rattling.

Understood. The 3090 is a pretty beefy GPU by the looks of things, but like I said, the arm wasn't supporting the GPU anyway so I've just lowered it right down so it's out of the way. Maybe there's a better place for it to live. I'll take a look tonight. Thanks :)
