Cosmos 2 Reviews.?

Howdo ;)

Im currently waiting (like MANY others) for my new lappy and no doubt like everyone else, ive been looking for reviews or possible issues with my choices e.t.c.

On trawling through the forums, especially the 'problem pages' it seems theres a few probs with the more expensive options and im starting to think that ive made a reasonable decision in opting for the Cosmos2/Clevo chassis.

Has anyone had similar spec to me and have had chance to review?

Max usage - napoleon total war, simcity, footy mgr.

My spec-
Chassis - Cosmos2 15:6 1080p full HD widescreen
Processor - i5-4300m
Graphics - Nvidia 750m ddr5 2gb
Ram - 2x4gb kingston hyper-x
HDD - 750gb Scorpio Blue
Rest of options - default (basic)
No O/S.
@ £650.
I'm on 7th production day, so got ages to wait no doubt ;) but i'll periodically post reviews over the coming months, once its arrived.
Cheers

Must admit that 'the waiting' is starting to get to me now...lol
15 days since i clicked 'buy' 12th production day and its still 'in build' mode. Does anyone know if theres a back log waiting for testing? Is that why 'fast track' has been suspended for time being mooseh?
Ive tried the online message but doesnt work properly on ipad, was told theres no prob's and it was 50/50 chance of getting it for weekend, after reading others replies about vague info' coming from the online message, think ill take it with a pinch of salt ;)
Any PCS member can check my order for me? 600142 cheers peeps ;)

Laptops are currently our busiest department, I will have alook into the delay on your order for you on Monday.

Fast tracks being disabled is not due to the amount of builds :)

Now dont get me wrong, im chuffed my order is zinging along the production line, but its gone from in build (today) to testing, through QC and now awaiting dispatch. Wow.! Turbo mode ;)

Is it possible to test and QC my lappy in matter of hours? Properly ;)

Granted my spec is relatively basic, but everythings going a little too well atm, is it possible that all is well and running perfick, fingers crossed i suppose :)

Well well, the day has come for my status to change to 'dispatched' \o/ yay! Looking forward to recieving lappy tmrw :)

I will review it (as theres not many reviews of cosmos2) once ive had time to set it up properly, which leads me to this post -
Is there a 'best way' to set up your lappy? Ive not bought custom before and ive been reading bits n bobs, but dont want to pfaff about if theres a best procedure. Mine came with no O/s, so ive got copy myself which ill obviously have to load up, but -
Is it worth wiping everything first, getting rid of any partitions and run a security scan first?
Then O/s first, then update drivers or? Doesnt it overly matter?

Cheers

Should be fairly basic, I ordered without an OS too, when I got my lappy it had windows on already (just some basic/testing version they use during testing/QC I guess to make sure everything works), so it's just a matter of putting in your windows CD, rebooting and installing your own copy of windows :) You can format the hard drive during the installation process, then put in the driver CD that comes with your laptop + install and voila :)

Enjoy your new laptop :flowers: :)

I'd be very interested to hear your review - I'm tempted to bite on a very similar specced Cosmos II with PCS at the moment, just with an IPS screen coupled with a 500GB seagate SSHD and your comments about the Optimus vs Cosmos is pretty much the boat I'm in

Let us know dude!

Well, after watching the man in DPD delivery van drive around all morning on tracking map, my lappy arrives ;)

Im stil downloading, installing and updating, so havent put it through its paces yet, but heres review so far:-
Packaged really well, obvious care has been taken. Ty :)
Build quality looks good, alot lighter than my last laptop and alot thinner, certainly mobile enough.
Has a nice look and feel to the laptop.
Keyboard isnt the best, but does the job, much the same with mouse pad.
Only using it plugged in atm, so dont know about battery yet.
No fan noise at all yet been running for 5hrs, my cooler fan is making more noise.(no games on it yet tho)
Havent tried sound either yet.

Purchased without O/S, but they asked what O/S i was gona use and they used that to test leaving it installed, enabling me to just put my O/S KEY in and away you go. ;)

Like i say, not had a chance to test a game on it yet, so ill do more in-depth review soon, but my initial reaction is 'chuffed' worth the wait and i deffo think 'i' made right choice opting for the Cosmos2 chassis/combo over some more expensive options, bearing in mind i wasnt after a top spec gaming rig, just something that could deal with casual gaming.

Thanks to those that helped on the forum :) and good effort PCS.........so far ;)

You're selling it to me man - thank you for the feedback.

Another review / opinion piece on here once you've given it a decent working out over the next 24 hours would be awesome if you would be so kind! In particular the fan noise and the speakers would be great (not expecting wonders from the speakers but unless their unbearably tinny it may well win me over)

Ere u go liquid :)

Had no probs wotsoever ......so far....fingers crossd.
As said before, not a mad gamer, but had empire total war high settings, whilst seeding in background, fan was blowing obviously, but not loud.
Speakers aint the best, but i plug in 2 Lil mini-X speakers, plus theres enough tweakings on sound blaster to make it bearable :)
Overall mate, gotta say - i cant fault PCS at any point, so far ;)
So glad i went for cosmos2. Not out of this world, but pictures crisp n clean, does wot it says on the tin, without probs so far.
Hope that helps peeps :)
