Hello
I was wondering if somebody can help me, I am looking for a custom built laptop, I am not to sure if PCSPECIALIST will make one to a specific specification but its worth a try to ask
My budget is £1500-£1700

I would be looking for a very very powerful laptop. to be able to use high end design packages such as adobe photoshop cs5 and cs6 3D studio max, sony vegas etc. also with a powerful graphics card to be able to play most recent and future games with no problems on ultra setting.
Below is a little list of what I would be looking for:

17" screen at least
Powerful CPU to handle high end design programs such as Adobe premiere, Sony Vegas, 3D Studio max (all open at same time)
16gig RAM
SSD C: to run the OS and maybe a 1TB second hard drive for storage
amazing powerful graphics card for the most recent games and also be able to handle future games (call of duty + battlefield etc) + have a HDMI output so I can link it to my TV screen to watch films tv shows etc

Thats just afew things lol. I dont really want to buy a laptop thats from a high street shop as it will be wayyy to expensive and the specs wont be that good

on a side note:
I live in Stockton-on-tees (near Middlesbrough) in the north east of England. So if anybody lives locally and would be able to offer and helping hand either to build for me (obviously I will pay)

Thank you for your time to read

Definite laptop rather than desktop? Desktop computer would have considerably more power... But portability or space could be an issue...

Hello, the above quote I got from PCspecialist... however I was just wondering what peoples thoughts on the spec+price?

Would that processor be able to handle the high end video+image editing programs such as Adobe photoshop CS5 + CS6, Adobe Premiere, Sony Vegas, 3D studio max and AutoCAD?

Whats the graphics card like? will it play current and future games on ultra settings okay?

Value for money?

Thank you for your time

Downgrade the processor and upgrade to the 880m if you have any doubts over the graphics card. That's seems to be the main advice you get from people here and I suppose it makes sense.

RAM: best setup? (16gig)

Hello

I was just wondering whats the different between:

4x4
2x8
1x16 etc..

for ram?
I was looking for either a new pc or laptop with 16gig RAM, but I was abit confused about the RAM setup... do all of the combinations work exactly the same? and the only different between them is for the space within a laptop or tower?

If I wanted 16gig ram, for a machine to handle high end design packages and top gaming what setup is the best?

Thank you

It doesn't give you any noticeable difference performance wise. It depends on how much more ram you wish to add later on and the ram slots you have available.

Quad core processing?

Hello
this might sound a bit silly but I am a total PC n00b...

As some of you may of read over the last 2 week I am looking for a very powerful laptop that can handle top end design packages such as Adobe Photoshop & Adobe Premiere etc...

The laptop spec I was working on would have:
Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Mobile Processor i7-4810MQ (2.80GHz) 6MB
16GB KINGSTON SODIMM DDR3 1600MHz (2 x 8GB)

So for example if I made a video within premiere and wanted to render it/finalize it and i clicked on "go" would the processor if needed to use the 4 cores... would do so?

I only ask because last year in PC-World I heard a "tech guy" say to a customer that the pc he was showing him would need to be setup so that all 4 cores would work and be able to be used if n when needed.

So all I would like to know is... if you get a quad core processor... would all 4 cores work... if and when needed? and no other setup/options would need to be edited so that it goes from 2 to 4?

Like I said I know it sounds silly but I didnt see the point of getting a quad core if its only setup so 2 cores are used and to get the other 2 to work you need to "turn them on" in some kind of settings etc

Thank you for your time
P.S - Sorry if this is in the wrong section
