Defiance 1 problems

Hello, I've been having trouble with my laptop.

The fans get really loud when plugged in but goes quiet when on battery.
Service Host: Local System (svchost) jumps to around 25% when plugged in and drops to 8% when on battery.

Windows update hangs on checking for updates and gives error code 0x800705b4
Ran the Windows Update Diagnostic Tool and it tells me service registration is missing or corrupt

I'd open a command prompt and run the command "sfc /scannow" (without the quotes). This will check for (and try to repair) any corruptions in the Windows component store. It takes a while to run. See how things are after that.

Just ran the tool and it said some corrupted files were repaired.
Restarted my laptop.
Reran the Windows Diagnostic Tool and it says the Service Files are missing or corrupt.
Still have problem with fans.
What I noticed is that I have random files 0kb in my HDD (windows is installed on SSD) with a long sequence of letters and numbers.

What I noticed is that I have random files 0kb in my HDD (windows is installed on SSD) with a long sequence of letters and numbers.

That doesn't sound good. Rather than mess about trying to troubleshoot further my inclination would be to do the following:

1. Backup all user data, take disk images if you are able to.

2. Run chkdsk /r on the HDD. Run the SSD manufacturer's diagnostics on the SSD. If either find any errors they can't repair suspect the disk.

3. Reinstall Windows, choose the custom option and delete all partitions on both disks.

4. Install Windows to the SSD. Install all drivers (use only PCS supplied drivers, Clevo supplied drivers, or drivers from the device manufacturers website).

5. BEFORE installing anything else check how your fans perform. If you still get the difference between power and battery I'd call PCS.

6. Assuming all is well, copy your user data back to the HDD and install your third party programs.

Replying to this for anyone whose having similar problems. Did a clean install of windows 10, and did everything ubuysa listed. Works great now. I believe the reason the fans were increasing due to service registry corruption so I was unable to update windows so the update process was using a lot of the CPU (observed through task manager). Many thanks for the advice ubuysa and also the staff at PCS with putting up with my constant calling.
