Desktop PC for Video Editing?

Hi, I am new to this platform so not sure of any specific format required to enter a new post?

I am using Davinci Resolve 18 on a laptop which is struggling to keep up when editing. I am sure the big issue is related to not having a dedicated graphics card and slow processor. I have been looking at PC Specialists in the video editing section and the have a range from £550 to over £4000 which is way out of my budget.
Is anyone familiar with the computer requirements for Davinci in order to best select a unit from PCS?
I am currently recording in 4K however I am only just able to process 1080P.
Any feedback will be most welcome.

That's a bit confusing initially, unless it's my monitor.
It looks like what you want for 4K work is :-
: a 6 core cpu minimum. 8 or more cores is better.
: an 8GB VRAM GPU, or more, two graphics cards are better than one, if you are using the full version.
: 32GB of RAM, 64GB if you want to go over 4K work, but the speed isn't that important.
and storage as is usually recommended in here.
Also, that page is a year old, new faster 6, 8, 12 and 16 core cpu's from AMD are now available, if a faster cpu will help.
It's also the previous generation of DaVinci Resolve, 17, you're using 18.

So to be able to spec a new computer for you, we need to know what your budget is. Either your max, or what you're aiming at.
And would DaVinci 18 like 3070/80/90 gpus (or you for that matter), or are the same gpus as for 17 more than adequate?

Hi David and Simon,
Thank you both for your comments above, I have not previously seen the above Davinci Min and Rec requirements before and I agree I am on Davinci 18 now. I have a budget of about £1500 to £1700 and obviously would like to think I can get something that meets the requirements in that ballpark. I am a drone flyer and record in 4K for the most part although the drone is capable of 5.4K (never tried it as I have no equipment to process it.). I will try and get an updated spec from Davinci and then discuss with PCS.
