Title should read 7850

Just got new PC on first plugging it in played around a bit and had various installed screensavers running (ie Ribbons).

Now when I try anything other then Photos I get a message saying “The screen saver can't run because it requires a newer video card or one that's compatible with Direct3D”?

Have I deleted something along the way, am I doing something wrong, can any body help please I am pulling out all of what little hair I have left.

I did uninstall some nvidia stuff as I thought that as I had an AMD card it wouldn't be needed.

If that is my fatal error how do I go about re-installing them.

Some spec stuff....

You don't need any nVidia stuff installed, it could (would) cause conflicts. Did you used to have an nVidia card?

Really not too keen on fresh install of windows (system restore was turned off by default???)

Never had a nvidia card - brand new PC

Guess I'll just continue hunting around for some solution

A system restore isn't a fresh Windows install, it just rolls your current install back to a previous working state. And are you saying that this PC came from PCS with an AMD GPU but with nVidia software installed? If so I'd give them a call as something is amiss there.

Didn't notice that system restore wasn't turned on until far too late in the process - after I noticed the 3D screensavers had stopped working.

Yep AMD Radeon 7850 with drivers for AMD and cat conrol centre plus drivers and control widgit for nVidia.

May have to give them a call as I'm mighty confused.

At the moment not a major problem, only the screensavers not functioning, but maybe it will cause further problems down the line.

Thaks for your input anyway

Problem fixed.....

For anybody else who gets this:

Reinstalled all the AMD drivers and software, guess they had updated automatically somehow and got mangled.

Won't work just re-installing you need to remove everything first as detailed in the second post in this thread

Then download the autodetect videocard software and let it do it's thing.
