so just to be 100% clear, Nvidia is this cause of these BSOD? does that count has hardware 'fault'? because id like to send my Optimus VII back. if I had known this problem was going to happen, I would have never had bought this laptop. feel very betrayed by Pc specialist that they would allow this. Huge waste of money and time and I cant even play any games on it without crashes.

There is (most probably) no hardware fault, this is a software issue caused by either (or both) Microsoft and/or NVIDIA. It's a well-known and well-documented issue with Windows 10. It's hardly PC Specialist's fault, they are not responsible for either Windows 10 nor the NVIDIA drivers. I'm also pretty certain that Windows 8.1 (on the same hardware) does not have these problems.

It's well known that Windows 10 is still a work in progress, that's one reason I believe whey Microsoft are giving it away free until July, they get a massive free Beta test out of it. These issues will be fixed in time of course, though that doesn't help those suffering now.

I would suggest that you call PCS as soon as possible and discuss your problems with them.

Everyone's comments in here have been useful to me, as I'm looking at this from a different angle. I don't have one yet but am looking to buy a PCS laptop with the 960M, but during my research has shown me this thread, and many others, including the 70 odd pages from Nvidia and I wanted your opinions on whether I should hold off until there's more clarity on whether the issues are fixed, or try and find something with a different card. What's the concensus?

Thanks and good luck to all with the issue! :turned:

Thanks so much, having the exact same issue as you on the same computer, using this driver saved me so much hassle troubleshooting, runs fine on this driver thanks again :)

Sorry for the delayed answer. To be honest I still get the odd crash. If you can cope with testing every new drivers when they come out and knowing that you might get a few crash it's great. I took the laptop with an SSD and it's exactly what I wanted. Driver problems can happen with any hardware. Time will tell if the problem with windows 10 and optimus will be resolve. But yeah I'm happy with the current driver I'm using, all the games I play work fine. Hope this helps.

Hey guys, I had exactly the same problem I reset my whole laptop (Optimus VII) and rollbacked the drivers to 353.30. I havnt tired this driver out much yet but it used to happen constantly on guild wars 2 just cause 3 anything. It was when I alt tabbed out I couldnt get back onto the game as it seemed to have crashed so I would then have to end task in task manager and after 30 seconds or so it would crash with DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE. It is really annoying but I will try out this driver (353.30) and see what its like if not I will go with 358.50

In GW2, I had constant freeze in full screen, try the borderless window. I haven't tried the newer drivers, haven't got the time but obviously the newer the driver, the better it should be, so 358.50 so technically be better than 353.30. Also if you bought battlefront you'll need at least the 358.50 driver.

Best of luck and keep us informed.

yea that happend to me sometimes. It would freeze if I had anything on full screen so annoying. I dont want to remove windows 10 as I do like it compared to other windows but if it keeps happening then I might have to. I will keep you informed how my driver works if it still occours I will try out the 358.50

Hey all just a quick update on this error. So played some Just Cause 3 today no problem a tall. I did it in fullscreen and alt tab out a few times and didnt crash atall. So all is good here. This is with the 353.30 driver and all is working well

Going to try that tomorrow :) thanks for the update. What Nvidia driver are you using?

Hey, using 353.30. The Intel download has only semi-fixed my problem, i am able to run the program i was having trouble with, but as soon as i do something else with the program still running, (Go on internet, open another program) I get Driver power state failure again

Just downloaded Driver booster 3, it was recommended by someone. It has found a lot of out dated (very old driver). I'll give it a shot.

I have the Optimus VII and have been unable to fix this problem

I have tried many things:

Reinstalled CLEAN Windows 10
Uninstalled/reinstalled Clean Drivers for Nvidia/Intell
Tried older/newest drivers

Still DRIVER_POWER_STATE_FAILURE

I emailed pcs who said they are aware of this issue and was told to fill out an RMA form so that is what iv'e done
