Hello everyone! Just got my PC back from an RMA no complaints, cooler and gpu issue replaced straight away.. props to PCS!

However now my CPU runs a bit hotter than before, I know 7800x3d can run hot anyway, but before it would idle the same as it does now 40-50, but literally opening up an app can cause a to 70c spike and it sits at 60-80 for gaming which I know is ok for this CPU, however, I prefer to run all of my fans on max, the noise doesn't bother me and I prefer it.

I have set all my fans to extreme on ICUE, but when the CPU spikes the fans kick in and go higher, why? they should all be set to max, I went to BIOS and set to max and it made no difference and its still the same, so if the fans are set to max why do they kick in and out? I just want them running at max constantly.. any ideas? Thanks in advance.

The extreme profile doesn’t set fans to max, just has a higher rpm but still variable based on temps.

As it’s a Corsair cooler controlled by the commander core, you have no control of it in the bios, only in icue.

Theres no requirement to have them on max, would be extremely noisy and unnecessary. Even extreme isn’t really warranted.

But if you wanted a static speed youd need to set a custom fan curve in icue.

Extreme has you more than covered. It's certainly not what I would run, and definitely not in gaming, but if you're happy with the reduced wear and tear to the cooling then there's no real down side.

I would be sure that you have the case fans at a good rate as well though. If the AIO is set to extract you'll create a vacuum in the case and pull dust into it which is ill advised.

If that fan setup is 3 on the front, 3 on the side, 3 on the AIO in the top, 1 exhaust at the back, then you may want to configure them so that there's an equal flow rate from the front to the top and only ramp up the side ones when the extra airflow is really needed...which will let you control the noise levels a bit better.

I find the default Corsair profiles too aggressive, as if they're made for Intel CPU and not for AMD.

Also, you may find 2 sets of AIO profiles in iCUE...one set labelled "Quiet/Balanced/Extreme" and one set labelled "iCUE LINK Quiet/Balanced/Extreme"...but as they don't actually show the curves, it's difficult to see where they're so poor, so I use custom ones instead.

FYI, my 7800X3D in a 6500X aquarium case is currently sitting at around 45-47ºc at idle...and coolant temp sitting at 28-29ºc. Both can increase significantly on a hard gaming session, but the highest I've see the CPU is about 75ºc, and the coolant at 41ºc.

My fans only ramp up to clearly audible level when the coolant hits 45ºc
