get the ati radeon 5750 1GB then. mid-level gaming, it will be perfect! 5770 is a bit more and im reading reviews that generally its not worth the extra money.

edit: oh wait, pcspeclist have removed the Ati radeon 5750 HD1Gb from selling it..it seems. nvm, 5770 wud be very good especially for your mid-level gaming..what games you intending to play?

looks good, seeming as your on a limited budget.. do you really want a sound card? the motherboard has integrated sound (aka onboard sound w/e). But then again i read everywere that a soundcard always sounds better (maybe by a little ehy?) than onboard. depends what your going to use for

I duno man it fitted in to make it 800 exactly. Basically my situation is i'm currently using a Intel duel core 1.46GHz processor, 2g of ram and a really really crap graphic card (laptop btw) its 4 years old. I'm looking to take a step up, and with the help of you guys get the best for my money, which from what i have seen, since i started building it thanks to the help of the people on this forum i've saved alot :)

I would only consider the 600w power supply in case you might want to upgrade the gpu in the future. Also I would consider getting 640gb caviar black instead of 1tb caviar green but only if you would be fine with 640gb
Also consider the spec below, it has a sandy bridge cpu.
Case
PCS MAELSTROM T900 BLACK GAMING CASE
Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™i5-2400 Quad Core (3.10GHz, 6MB Cache) + HD Graphics

To be honest there's really not going to be much difference between the two builds at 1680x1050 or 1920x1080 because the 5770 is going to create a bottleneck so unless you upgrade the graphics card aswell (maybe a HD6870) then I don't think you're going to see any difference in frames per second, the Sandy bridge system will be quicker for other things like encoding and video editing though.

I've never really gamed on a PC before so when i get the PC i'll be new to it all. I'm just looking for something that runs alot faster that my 1.46GHz laptop! I'm going to get the 5770 for now then upgrade it in the future, but i will be going with a 600w power supply. I've never had a AMD before, but i know there is a war between to two for who is better. I'm going to use the pc to do some gaming at different levels (minecraft, GTA, crysis) and use skype and other programs.

Well you'll be better off with the i5-2400 when you upgrade the graphics card and for doing anything else on the computer so go with build bg92 posted.

In your case there is no need for I5-2500k as you are not planing to overclock, you could however consider the i5-2500

You guys are so helpful!

So my two choices are the,

Intel® Core™i5 Processor i5-2500 or AMD PHENOM II X4 970

I have some time before ordering the PC, but its looking like the Intel will win. I've never tried AMD before but have heard mixed reviews about both. All the suggestions are seriously awesome, started with something for £600, now i'm pushing £900!
