Gaming and video processing PC - Noob!

Hello guys,

I need to buy a new PC, the old one is falling apart. I will use it for gaming (all kinds of games, but I'd like to get back to flight simulators, DCS, etc.). I still have to buy a new monitor, which will probably be 32 inch 1440p, I'm not interested in 4k gaming. I also want to use it for video processing, nothing extreme but I need decent performance.

I'm clueless, and I used advice given in other posts for the specs below. I'd like advice on getting the right components, motherboard, etc. I chose 64gb RAM because I've read that DCS uses a lot when playing online. The configuration page said that I had to pick a Gigabyte motherboard, but as I said I don't really know what I'm doing.

Ideally, I'd like to stay under £2,500 (not including the monitor), but please consider that since I live in the Isle of Man, I want to pay for the Platinum warranty.

What’s your budget for the monitor as that will affect the gpu required, but for DCS, and ultrawide or super wide would be preferable over standard aspect ratio 1440p, especially at this budget for the pc

That's a good healthy budget and you could get a decent Ultrawide IPS monitor.

In case you weren't familiar, normal 1440p is 2560 x 1440 and ultra wide is 3440 x 1440 in visual terms, you get a lot more of the peripheral view which is superb for flight sims and makes it far more immersive, plus DCS is much more designed around ultra wide and super wides.

With regards to the build, the only thing I've changed is the cooler, you really want an AIO on Ryzen

With regards to a monitor, this is a firm favourite and is actually £100 off currently on offer, it's a flat panel and full IPS and includes an integrated KVM switch so you can plug say a laptop or tablet into it's second display slot and use the same mouse and keyboard across both systems, quite a nice feature

Was just reading up and apparently DCS is heavily GPU VRAM dependent, basically it will use whatever is available, and AMD include far more VRAM by default.

This is a stronger build from a raw tessellation perspective purely aimed at DCS, just thought I'd post it as an option, but if you're factoring in video editing, for overall performance, I think you'd be better off with the 4070ti Super

This is something I wasn't sure about. Apparently it is better optimized for Nvidia cards due to DLSS support, but not sure if there's a big difference. I will take a look at the DCS forums to see what GPU people recommend, and then will make the final decision.
