Thanks :)

Im not sure what monitor but i might get a 1080p 144hz monitor.
Do you think i should get a WD m.2d instead of samsug eco m.2? I'm trying to reduce the cost further xd

This build would be completely wasted on 1080p gaming.

What's your budget for both the system and the monitor together?

My budget is £2,500. Im thinking of changed the processes to i9 9900k overlocked because games in years 3 with Vulcan and updated engines gonna be huge
is overclocking worth it though?

The 9900k isn;'t a good use of money - it's hugely expensive, uses a lot of power, and won't really help much with gaming performance especially at higher resolutions. I appreciate the desire to futureproof, but frankly the better way to futureproof is to save money to be able to buy more advanced, cheaper hardware down the line.

At CES AMD demoed an engineering sample of an 8C/16T CPU from their Zen 2 lineup coming out this summer matching 9900k performance, and it's expected there will also be 12 and 16 core CPUs.

Also Intel CPUs are super experience right now due to supply shortages, and the motherboards are expensive too (partly because they are, partly because they are actually affected by 14nm supply shortages for the chipsets themselves).

I'd suggest something like:

And a 1440p 144hz monitor. The performance difference from the CPU will probably be ~5% if that, but the savings are huge and let you afford a much better monitor / keep money in the kitty for a CPU upgrade in several years that will smash the 9900k and anything else on offer anyway.

For monitors you could start looking at the Dell S2716DG

The motherboard is expected to support Zen 2, I'm pretty sure AMD have confirmed AM4 (the socket on these motherboards) supports new CPUs upto 2020. Zen 2 is out this summer at some point most likely. There's some possibility that the motherboards may even support what comes after Zen 2 I think.

There are of course potential considerations like whether it will be sensible to put some of the more extreme Zen 2 CPUs e.g. those 16 core beasts) on cheaper AM4 motherboards in terms of VRMs. In the same way that you you could put a 9900k into an H310M-A motherboard, but you'd probably be nuts to actually do it. And of course new motherboards will come out with newer features like PCIe 4.0.

Nothing really uses that yet though, so you probably wouldn't feel much incentive to upgrade the mobo in the summer even if you did upgrade the CPU.

Tbh, by far the most likely scenario if you buy the R7 2700x is that you'll be entirely happy with the system's performance for a long while to come, and you won't seriously consider upgrading the CPU for a long while. You'll just have saved £200-300 for use at a much later date with no ill effects in the meantime :)

In addition to the above I would recommend putting some of the savings towards the 850 RMx PSU, it's just a better bit of kit and doesn't eat too much cash over the 750. Also, I would have a look at the Wifi choice. The default option has been selected automatically but it's worth putting a few quid to a faster card.
