GCC driver updates

Should any drivers be updated in the GCC software or via windows. I had to recently reinstall windows on my PC due to some issues & they were previously installed via this software so wasn’t sure if this was the main reason for the issues my pc was having.

Yes it is. Since the reinstall the problems seems to have gone, just wasn’t sure if the cause is using GCC to install drivers

Did you clean install? Is there any missing driver? Could you please post a screenshot of your device manager?

Typically, Windows update configures the majority of drivers through the optional update; however, the chipset and GPU drivers should be installed manually. I'd avoid using any software for that unless there are no other options; I'm not familiar with the Gigabyte control center, but perhaps some other user can provide additional information.

It was a clean install. GPU drivers I always install via the Nvidia App or the website & this is my device manager. Its showing all the drivers are already installed

So, your issue may have been caused by Norton, which is a malware. I hope you did not reinstall it.

That was never installed before my windows reinstall as I normally use the one that’s already built into windows.
It's listed in the specs you provided, so it was installed when you received the PC.
Anyway, everything seems to be okay, at least on the software side. (y)

I made sure it wasn’t installed this time round. None of the updates from GCC have been installed as it’s unclear yet if that was the cause of the issues.

You wouldn't use anything via GCC, always windows update and then manually if necessary from the motherboard downloads page, and manually install GPU drivers.

Last time I made the mistake of using GCC but will do them from windows updates this time but as of now none are showing up as I believe it’s already installed them upon reinstalling windows.

It was my only option cause I didn’t have a spare USB drive to use it as a bootable USB drive. If there’s anymore issues with my PC I will buy one & reinstall windows that way.
Point is it's not a clean install, so isn't the correct method for what you're trying to do.

You don't have to have a USB drive, you can have a CD / DVD or external drive, anything really.

Will have to see if the issue I was getting pops up again as of now it hasn’t. And I don’t unfortunately only a 2TB external hard drive but it contains data on it. Using a CD/DVD wouldn’t be another option either as my pc doesn’t have a disc drive.

So you need to stock up, can’t manage a pc without external media. USB Keys are really cheap these days, only need minimum of 8Gb for windows installer

I ended up backing up the data I had on my external driving & using that instead to reinstall windows from the bootable drive as my PC starting experiencing issues again & had about 4 BOSDs. I also turned off the option for GCC in the bios so it won’t install it. And downloaded drivers from windows updates & from my motherboard website. I also completely wiped the drive before reinstalling windows on it.
