I would just leave the monitor mate if its a 1080p monitor; 60hz is fine. You should in theory be able to get a higher fps than you had, so you are potentially right to worry that something is not quite right. Having a 60hz monitor will not cap your frames and you should in theory be seeing higher fps and be experiencing screen tearing etc. as it goes above the monitors refresh rate. However as mentioned, this would then make you stick the adaptive vsync back on to avoid the horrible tearing, and you will be back to being capped at 60fps anyway. I wouldn't worry too much, if you have ultra settings on everything on battlefield your fps seems about right for that spec. I would drop some aa off the graphics options as at that resolution 8x msaa is not much of a difference over say 4. It will impact performance significantly.
The Arma engine is highly cpu bound, so that is not a good game to test. You get better results from overclocking your cpu on that in my experience, and its just generally a terrible game to test a new gpu on tbh. Don't be surprised to not see much of an increase on that game, this is one where a new processor may help a little, but on most other games with your specs you should see a good increase in fps. Try some others.
A few of the mmos like using rather more cpu power, most fps games etc. will use your gpu more; those are the ones to test. You should be fine on most titles for a while with that spec and it was most definitely a good upgrade; don't think you have wasted money. If you use two screens then this is definitely all you should expect in terms of framerate on ultra settings. Three monitors will be ok, but don't expect to max every game at a steady 60fps.
