Headphones stopped working after windows update

Hi

I just completed a windows update on my device and was listening to Spotify at the same time. After the update completed my headphones stopped working. On sound settings it seems like it’s picking up the sounds but not outputting it. I was told having NVIDIA audio can sometimes cause problems and I seem to have two NVIDIA audio features under sound, video and game controllers on my device manager even though I selected them not to be installed. I also notice that I don’t seem to have any Realtek speakers not sure if this is normal. If you need my spec I can post it. Any help would be appreciated

Never mind just got it. It was cumulative update preview for windows 10 version 20H2 for x64 based systems (KB4598291)

Have you checked to see if there is an updated driver for your USB headset ?

Go into the Device manager and under USB devices, remove/delete the headset then plug it back in and let it load up drivers again - try to update if you can.

Have a search online for the make / model of your usb headset and go to their support page and check for any updates / issues?.

My headset only shows up under sound, video and games controllers on device manager. It also seems to be showing as a speaker on sound settings rather than a headset for some reason.

Failing that - consider rolling back the recent update and trying them again.

I only have two options updates for drivers. Intel net and intel corporation Bluetooth would these be worth updating?

I tried the two checks suggested in that forum but both didn’t work. The speaker is showing that it’s recognising the sound but just doesn’t seem to output it.
