Right, with the above spec I do have a few questions:

1: is that power supply enough? on the quote page it says I can down grade... however I might want to add another: 8GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 1080 - DVI, HDMI, 3x DP - GTX VR Ready!
and if I do so it will be SLI will the power supply be enough still?

2: is there adequate cooling? enough fans + water cooling

3. Is there anything on the spec that would not work together?

4. how long before this spec will be out of date? lol

I didnt add a monitor as I was going to get a: Acer Predator X34A 34" 3440x1440 IPS G-SYNC WideScreen Super-Wide ZeroFrame Curved LED Monitor - roughly £900

Any thought or suggestions are welcome

- I knwo ive got a laptop spec forum topic, instead of confusing my self or other I made a desktop spec topic also

Thank you for your time

Is it just for gaming? If that's the case the ram is overkill, 16gb ram will be ample. For SLI I would suggest 850w psu. Are you overclocking the cpu?

Its for a bit of everything: gaming, video editing, image editing and general computer usage really.

I will not be overclocking as I have no idea how to lol

I forgot to ask: will the - Acer Predator X34A 34" 3440x1440 IPS G-SYNC WideScreen Super-Wide ZeroFrame Curved LED Monitor, work fine with that rig? and as ive not had a desktop in 12years... to connect the tower to the monitor do I just use a HDMI cable? and thats it?
Also I can use that monitor for Xbox one gaming too?

Thank you

You will be better with another 200w for SLI. They are amazing PSUs so an upgrade to an 850 is a sound investment.

Yes, should be more than enough. Looks like a great setup.
3. Is there anything on the spec that would not work together?
All looks fine, RAM is a little overkill but good if you fancy lots of editing etc.

Tomorrow with the way PCs go. There are already a new generation of CPUs etc out.

I would increase the warranty to the silver, I believe it's only £5 more. I would also suggest dropping the SSD drive in favour of an M2 drive. The SM951 is so much faster for not a lot of extra money. The 2nd SSD you have chosen would likely be a storage drive? With that in mind I would just go with a conventional drive, the SSDs are amazing, so if you have the budget for a 1tb one then go for it, I would always make sure the primary is the best you can afford and the SM951 is WAY up there on my spec priority list.

Best RAM setup? 2x4 4x8 etc

Hello

I am planning on getting 32gig of RAM for a new gaming rig. and there is different setups: 2x4 2x8 etc...

is there any difference between the setup? as long as theres a total of 32 will there be a difference in performance?

4x8 is all I can do anyways I think right?

But lets say as an example I wanted 16gig I could do:
2x8
or
4x4

which would be better? or is there NO difference at all its just down to what your mother board can handle?

Also Ive seen 2133MHz, 2666MHz and 3000MHz what is the difference. will 3000MHz give more power?

Thank you

I think there is a SLIGHT decrease in performance using the 4 slots but as I understand it it's only noticeable when benchmarking rather than real world. Personally I would always leave the 2 slots free and maximise the dual RAM size so that should I want to upgrade in the future I simply need to add another 2 sticks of the same RAM, rather than having to replace all 4 slots.

3000MHz is the best for overclocking. You will only get a performance difference at standard speeds when on the cusp of what the memory can handle. 3000mhz RAM will handle 2133MHz better than 2133MHz RAM for example. It all comes down to the timings and what you can afford. I would always go for a lower CAS latency RAM than a faster MHz ram (within my requirements of course).

If it's CL9 vs CL9 then go with the faster speed RAM. If it's CL8 vs CL11 then go with the lower latency.

That's not always the best approach for gaming tbh.

http://www.hyperxgaming.com/en/memory/fury-ddr4 the 2133MHz is CL14, 2666MHz is CL15. This isn't surprising as CL tends to go up with higher frequency RAM within a product series.

HyperX Savage has CL15 with 3000MHz, which again isn't surprising as it's a more expensive product family: http://www.hyperxgaming.com/us/memory/savage-ddr4

As a noddy's guide to frequency v latency: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_WsfeuWI7mU

So we should expect the 2666MHz RAM to outperform the 2133MHz. Which is what we see in real world gaming performance.

Besides which:
I will not be overclocking as I have no idea how to lol

Simplest way to the best performance is probably to just use the 2666MHz DDR4 (or 3000MHz DRR4 if you want to spend more) which I assume PCS will set the XMP profile for.

I'd agree with 2 sticks are better than 4 in this case, though, if only from an upgrade perspective. :)

It definitely works out a lot different nowadays. The sheer throughput of the RAM nowadays covers most of the CL timing downfalls. If there's only 1 or 2 CAS difference with a fair difference of MHZ then it's always going to be MHZ for the win :D

A few years back it was a choice of CL5 vs CL9 in some instances, which was night and day considering the frequency wasn't even close to double.

Well PCS, can only do 4x8:
32GB HyperX FURY DDR4 2666MHz (4 x 8GB Kit) 300MHz - i know the quote says 2666MHz bt ignore the 2666 lol
