Hello All,

Have spent some time now looking through the parts I feel are best for me and my set, my next step is getting someone who really knows what thier talking about to take a look!

My current specs on the monitors im using atm - (Full HD)1920 x 1080@60 Hz - Model number - S241HL bmid - These are acer 24 inch monitors - nothing special, but are good enough for me right now.

Any advice on this will be much appriciated, have put some time into this, but feel to rip it to sheads if need be haha

Thanks in advance :)

After viewing these forums for a couple of weeks researching, and then getting superb advice from the experts on here, you start to learn quickly and I had a chuckle when I saw your post as I can now imagine exactly what the mods are going to say..... Waste of a such a high spec on that monitor..! lol :)

In other words factor in a new monitor if you want that spec ;)

Hi Mate,

Thanks alot for replying!

Without admitting it to myself, I half knew I needed to upgrade my monitor haha. Ive been looking at a few, do you have any suggestions on what specs I should be looking at? Any fairly priced suggestions?

I have been looking a lot funnily enough as I wanted a balanced monitor for both gaming and photo editing. That meant an IPS panel and a QHD (1440p - 2k) monitor. I also wanted 144hz, low response time. I ended up with this after a lot of research and that could fit into my budget.

I would have liked this one which gets great reviews as an all rounder but is hard to get at the moment and a little more expensive

but as I say, I wanted good colours as well. If just for gaming there are more options but 1440p and 144hz is a given now for a new PC like yours. Ideally with Freesync (AMD GPU's) /GSync (Nvidia GPU's) (it doesn't have to be officially GSync - which is expensive- to work with NVidia GPU's - there is a good database where users have tested monitors with Freesync but not Gysnc (officially), which is ..

Rtings.com is a good site for monitor reviews and side by side comparisons.

That Acer Nitro is a good deal.

1440p monitors are in very high demand atm and stocks are either out of prices have gone up a bit.

That MSI I posted was £300 on another site yesterday, but they'd sold out by today. Stocks are gone within about a week so you have to be quick.

Hi SYDERTRACKS,

Thanks a lot for replying, appreciate it.

I will be using this soley for gaming and web browsing. Is thier anything that stands out that can be changed to keep the price down? The way I look at it is the more I save on the PC, the more I can spend on a monitor etc. Thanks a lot in advance!

I even managed to get that monitor for £299 on amazon yesterday! it was that price for 5 hours but I had been tracking the price.

'Keepa' Chrome add on app is simply the best thing ever for looking at amazon price history. (basically imbeds a price graph ala camelcamelcamel on every amazon product page. Love it for checking prices and to see if you are getting a good deal.
