Interested in ordering 15,6" FUSION PRO IV, need help with a few questions

Hello all, I've been on the search for a new laptop and while I've known about PCSpecialist for years, I've never ordered any PC here, so this might be a first time.
The nice screen, low weight and big battery (with USB-C charging) while packing a more powerful H-series CPU on a non-bulky body is ideal for me on this laptop model and really hard to find in regular OEM models.
I am trying to keep the budget below 1000€ (excluding Windows license). For my kind of usual work - needs a solid CPU and a lot of RAM - and since this is not meant for gaming or heavy duty video editing, I prefer to sacrifice dedicated GPU to increase RAM and SSD sizes and speeds.

1- If I want to do further upgrades of RAM or SSD, do I have to return the laptop to PCSpecialist or is the upgrade allowed to be done by myself or a knowleadgeable technician? This will be my daily driver so I cannot afford having it away from me for days or weeks. I could start with only 256GB fast SSD like Intel 760p and 16GB of RAM for now and then expand them later if the procedure is allowed.

2- Is choosing the Ryzen 7 4800H over the Ryzen 5 4600H worth it for general use (not gaming at all, maybe occasionally some video editing)? It's only 60€ of difference but it's almost the same price as expanding RAM to 2x16GB, which would make this laptop very future proof for me. But as I said, if RAM upgrade is allowed, I could choose Ryzen 7 now and increase RAM later.

3- Also, I do not live in mainland Portugal but in the islands (Azores), is that going to be a problem for delivery? (I read somewhere in the website that transport is through road delivery so I wondered if marine regions are included).

Thank you very much for the help.

The only advice I can give you is on question number 3, as NURSEMORPH has already covered number 1 and 2 very well.

I also live on an island (Ireland) and they do deliver products here. All PCS products are manufactured in the UK (which is an island by itself) and would require the first stint of air freight. I don't know which island do you live in the Açores, but from what I know all of them have airports (international or not), so I think you should be fine there. They use DPD for the deliveries by the way, so have you ever received or seen deliveries from DPD on your island? Even though, it is still worth checking with PCS on the live chat (the icon that shows up when you're on the configurator) before buying.

You definitely need to check with PCS as, as you quite correctly pointed out " Delivery will be by European road transport and will take 4 days once the order is dispatched." To me that would make it sound as though anything not road transport deliverable would be a problem. I think it's all down to costs, deliervy companies etc...Ireland, Channel islands etc is slightly different due to their proximity to the UK

Thank you, I will definitely contact with PCSpecialist support before placing the order to confirm details on the delivery.

Thank you, I will contact PCSpecialist support before placing the order. I live on the largest island (São Miguel). So far I haven't had any problem with deliveries with international retailers such as Amazon or AliExpress, as long as it is sent to mainland Portugal it usually ends up here as well. I have never seen DPD delivery here but there is Chronopost, which according to a quick search belongs to DPD group.

Without seeing the spec, to answer your questions:

1) Yes, you can upgrade the RAM and/or hard drives. PCS operate an open case policy whereby you can replace components without affecting your warranty, as long as you don't break anything and the new components don't damage the rest of the system.

2) Given you are video editing, I would go for the better CPU....you may do more than occasional editing in future and may be thankful of the better chip

3) That one you would need to talk to PCS about.....however, at a guess, I would say you may need to have it delivered to a courier service or similar on the mainland and then have them courier it to you on the islands. I could be wrong though. None of us here work for PCS so we can't give a definitive answer..best to contact them direct, Live Chat is the best option these days

Thank you, I have updated the original post with the configuration, since RAM and disk upgrades are allowed, I think I will slighty stretch the budget and go for Ryzen 7 4800H.

Hi, I've decided I want to invest extra to have 32GB RAM instead of 16GB on the Fusion Pro IV.

I've talked with some other people online who have purchased this laptop and they highly recommend it, but they say they order with minimum 8GB RAM and add later because PC Specialist provides RAM 2666 MHz and Ryzen CPUs perform better with higher RAM speeds.

Is there any precautionary reason why RAM is set at 2666 MHz and how much performance loss can I expect compared with 3200 Mhz RAM with the Ryzen 7 4800H?

And what about Vega 7 graphics on the Ryzen 7 4800H, should it provide graphics performance anywhere around NVIDIA MX230-MX250 of mainstream laptops (I am a bit concerned about having no dGPU at all, but the big battery and lots of RAM provide a good enough tradeoff for me 90% of the time).

I want to know the answer to this aswell. Ive heard from a number of reviews of people successfully testing with 3200MHZ ram. Is there a reason why PCS didn’t include this as part of their RAM upgrades?

You’d need to ask PCS, none of us work for them and can only guess.
