Hello everyone,

It is my first time building any type of PC/laptop and I am trying to build a laptop for photo/video editing and programming, mostly machine learning and quantum computing (which is very CPU and RAM intensive). Im looking at the PCSpecialist 16" Recoil laptop range and have specced out a laptop that I believe can handle these tasks.

Like I mentioned, I mostly do photo editing so I am slightly concerned about the screen on this model, An additional question is, will this laptop be able to run a 4k monitor as a second screen to overcome this? Any other advice on specifications would be very helpful, I wanted to run it by others to check if it makes sense. If theres any advice that people could give on these specs it woud be very appreciated!

I don't have much experience with photo/video editing tasks, so I recommend you wait for a proper advice from a more knowledgeable user on the subject. However, I would certainly advise against using an INTEL chassis and believe that the Recoil 16 AMD is much more suitable, if only because it does not have the same long-known issues as the INTEL chassis.

It would also be good if you could provide your max budget and which photo/video editing software you use the most so that we can provide more specific recommendations, particularly on the RAM and GPU requirements.

PS. I'd remove Norton malware anyhow; it slows down the system without providing any further protection. ;)

Thank you for your reply! I will take a look at the AMD chassis instead of the INTEL. My max budget is ideally in the range £2000-£2300 If the specs are worth the additional cost. In terms of software I use Adobe Lightroom, photoshop and premier pro. Programming like I mentioned as well is mostly for machine learning tasks.

Also thanks for the Norton Malware Advice!

Hello,
Could you provide the configuration link please ?

But for what I'm seeing right now:
I'd change the SSD (samsung is not the best nowadays), I'd take the golden warranty and the dead pixel guarantee
What Ekans said is true
The laptop should be able to handle a 4k display
