Is this PC able to stream games? Any improvements I can make?

Like title says, want to know if this PC is good enough to stream games such as BO4, ARK, so on. Is there anything I can improve on, bear in mind this is already quite expensive for me. And are the standard fans quiet enough or shall I get liquid cooling to make it quieter? Thanks in advance. https://imgur.com/a/AYODUif

I've merged your 2 topics.

You've got 2 specs here, one a lot more expensive than the other.

The first spec was apparently £1075. How much did the 2nd spec cost?

What is your budget? (you can say a target budget and a max budget if you want some options)

What monitor are you gaming on?

I'm thinking we might be able to suggest some rebalancing and potentially large savings.

This one is 1,600, At first my max budget was 1k but then I looked into it a bit more and having a good streaming gaming pc is expensive so I’m not sure on a max budget anymore, but my second spec is quite expensive for me, but still manageable. https://imgur.com/a/1LI9kgd Here is my monitor. Thanks for the reply and sorry for my slow one I was sleeping and at school

Multitasking there ;)

So, I think you're absolutely right that a PC with an i5 8400 is not at all ideal for streaming.

Streaming is demanding on the CPU especially, as you're asking the CPU to run a game and encode video at the same time.

However, the 9700k and the motherboard you've picked are both very expensive. The motherboard is super expensive anyway, while the 9700k in addition to being pretty expensive is also affected by Intel's 14nm supply issues.

Perhaps a better, and certainly better value, option would be an AMD system based on an R7 CPU.

I'd also suggest some other tweaks like a better case (better cooling options / more preinstalled fans, that sort of thing). And indeed a quieter case if you're looking for a quieter system. And a better quality and quieter PSU.

The 9700k and 2700x CPUs should be fairly evenly matched for streaming, and which is better may vary from title to title. The Intel CPU would technically outperform the AMD one in gaming, but both still provide more than adequate performance. Also, AMD's Zen 2 CPUs are coming out probably in the summer and will be compatible with existing AM4 motherboards, so more scope for upgrades there.

Thank you so much for help, I appreciate that you took the time to make the build aswell, LEGEND! Yeah I don’t mind if doesn’t run as fast because I know it’s still already fast enough. Will buy this build thank you

I know it’s a little late but could you give an estimate on what settings I could stream a game like apex legends? Or just any game in general, like what is the most this pc could handle in terms of graphics whilst streaming also sorry if my questions are dumb I’m a pc noob

I've no idea as I don't stream, and also I don't play any of those games. :)

With most games, increasing the graphics settings will create much more additional load on the GPU than the CPU. Some older games will render things like shadows on the CPU, and some games will be particularly demanding on the CPU in terms of view distance. So generally upping the gaming settings shouldn't hurt streaming performance in that sense. I've no idea whether a game run at higher settings has a bigger performance impact in terms of encoding, and if so by how much.

As for streaming settings, maybe take a look at this:
https://www.gamersnexus.net/hwrevie...w-game-streaming-cpu-benchmarks-memory/page-2

and see how they got on with performance at various encoding settings.

You can also try googling as it will probably turf up quite a lot of reddit threads where people discuss these things. In addition to what anyone else here suggests of course.

At the same time? ;)

To be fair I've had a few teachers and lecturers over the years where that is entirely probable....

Although my favourite ever lecturer was a bad tempered old soul who had either a prosthetic or very oddly lazy eye.

He used to stare intently at the front row after asking a question but wouldn't actually say whom he was expecting to answer. You had a 50:50 chance.

If he so decided it wasn't you, he would snap "Does it look like I'm looking at you...?!?"

I mean...the obvious answer was Yes, yes it does.

We used to call him Uzi. Uzi ------- looking at?
