Is this setup good and cost effective?

I'm going for an MSI monitor with a 144hz refresh rate and 1920x1080 resolution.
This is pretty much solely for gaming, don't need any VR, streaming or video processing capabilities.
My budget is a maximum of £2,000 and I'd like it to last a good few years before parts need upgrading.

You missed the configuration link but I don't think it'll matter as we wouldn't recommend Intel anyway.

I think £2k is right in the wheelhouse for 1440p. The build below isn't perfect for 1080p but it's certainly right smack bang in the wheelhouse. I would strongly advise upping the budget by £100-£200 and opting for a 1440p system It would be so much more worthwhile. I'm going to spec 1440p underneath this. Below is a 1080p monster, would last years at this resolution.

Below is a good 1440p build. Stretching the budget more, increases the performance on the GPU side. This isn't strictly required though and would be the first thing you would swap out regardless.
