Laptop - Dead Pixel

Hello!

I seem to have what looks like a dead pixel on my laptop screen, a Laptop which I've only had 4/5 months (from here)

What could have caused it?

Will it get worse?

And can I fix it?

Cheers :)

Many things can cause dead pixels unfortunately. You could get more. If it is truly a 'dead' pixel, I don't think it can be fixed, however if its just 'stuck' then it might be fixable http://www.wikihow.com/Fix-a-Stuck-Pixel-on-an-LCD-Monitor Not tried these myself (not yet had a dead/stuck pixel) but it might be worth giving them a go.

I guess you did not have the dead pixel guarantee (not even sure if that lasts long enough if I'm honest)?

That's a shame :( If its in a really annoying place and you want it fixing, you might need to get a new display.

Hi formidable......just out of interest....what screen did you get with yours? It's just that I've had my vortex 3 elite about 5 months and I've got a dead/ stuck pixel at the top near the webcam......although its been there after only owning it for a matter of days/weeks !!!
My screen is the che mei one and not the AUO one.
I did take out the dead pixel guarantee though. I contacted pcs at the time and they were supposed to inform me when the AUO screens came in so that I could get it changed....but to this day I've heard nothing. I'm not too worried though as the guarantee is a year I believe, so I will call them again very soon to get this sorted once and for all.

I had the extended pixel guarantee and replaced one screen a couple weeks into owning it. I got one a second time and I didnt bother as the positioning was less irritating. Also AUO stock was limited at the time. Now after so long ive forgot it exists.

I know what you mean rick......the dead pixel I've got is not in the way at all.....BUT....it may get worse or I may get more as I have the inferior screen. So I plan on getting it replaced and pay the extra for the 72% gamut AUO one.

Sorry we have not called after the first date.
Back to topic, we are still trying to source the screens in and we have had to take them from our site while we wait for stock as our last shipment was unfulfilled.

Ok MoosEh.......Thanks for letting me know. Like i said my dead/stuck pixel is right at the top of the screen and not a big problem.....but my trouble is that i know its there and my eyes just seem to train towards it lol.....i think anyone else would prob not even see it.

Anyway, i would appreciate a call or email if and when you get the 72% gamut AUO screens in as i would like to sort this out sooner rather than later.

Many Thanks
