Looking to upgrade my PC without purchasing a completely new rig, is this possible with my current set up?

Currently gaming on 1080p but planning to buy a new 1440p monitor in the very near future so please advise assuming I'l be using 1440p.

The new Oblivion Remastered release has tempted me to splash some cash and I'm wanting to play this game and similar titles with a steady 60+ FPS.

Budget is around £500 all in.

Thanks.

The link doesn't work unless you're logged into your account. Can you follow the instructions here and post the full build?

Also, you need to decide now whether we're looking at 1080p or 1440p. It makes a massive difference and the time to decide what to aim for is now!

Thank you.

That's a broadly decent system, but you have a massive problem with upgrades: that power supply is going to limit you a lot. You can't put a strong GPU in that system, and you need a strong GPU for 1440p. The GPU alone could cost £500.

In an ideal world I'd like to upgrade CPU (and cooler), PSU and graphics card. That's about £700, however, so not desperately practical. You could get away with just doing the PSU and graphics card, probably, which would be in the region of £550 (if you got the RM750e PSU and the 7700 XT graphics card). The CPU will need an upgrade before too long if your PC is going to last several more years without it becoming a significant bottleneck...

I suppose I could stretch the budget to include both the power supply and CPU. Would your recommendations be enough to not worry about upgrading again for another 4+ years?
Thanks your help, I would never have thought about the power supply being an issue going forward.

If you got a 5700X3D, an RM750e power supply, a FrostFlow 150 cooler, and a 7700 XT, you will have a strong system, as good as you can get on the fairly old platform. That should be a very solid option at 1440p for several years to come.

It probably comes to around £700, which is the maximum I'd consider putting into that PC.

On further reflection, the most efficient approach would be to upgrade the PSU and graphics card first, and then see if you're being restricted by the CPU. Depending on the games, you might find it's not a massive bottleneck. I'd upgrade to the RM750e and the 7700 XT today, see how you get on, and consider the 5700X3D and cooler in the future if needed.
