Make fun of me - I am a novice with a new Spec

So, I am some-what of a massive novice when it comes to computers. Maybe not as bad as your mum/dad/granny/grandad, but i'm just having to bite the bullet as I am now in need of a moderately powerful computer.

I will not be using the system for gaming. However, I will be running many many tasks on multiple software so I wanted the processing power associated with a gaming computer without the fancy graphics etc.

I've had a go at creating a spec. My own personal preferences are primarily the CPU, RAM, SSD, HDD - I've just had to have a shot at the majority of the other specifications.

I would appreciate any feedback at-all. Perhaps I haven't created the most compatible specification (and you could suggest alternatives), perhaps I've chosen components too advanced for my purpose. Or perhaps I've created just a load of old rubbish and I need to do abit more reading.

Thanks for reading, responding etc - and best wishes.

If you're not gaming and not planning to do anything that's graphically intensive (or mine bitcoins!) then you don't need the GTX1050 graphics card. The i5 CPU has an integrated graphics processor on it which will be perfectly fine for all non-gaming needs (I don't have a dedicated graphics card for example).

With what you save there I would get a faster SSD, one of the NVMe M.2 SSDs will be up to six times faster than the basic SSD you've chosen. That will make a difference to Windows performance.

I'd question the need for a liquid cooler too, a decent air cooler would be fine IMO if you're not overclocking. It depends on the price difference I guess.

I'd be tempted also to go for a slightly more powerful PSU to give plenty of room for later upgrades.

Others more experienced in these things than I will have other/different suggestions. :)

What software will you be using?

Ultimately we need to know what before being able to say for sure which CPU, which GPU etc delivers best performance / bang for buck, etc.

Thanks for all replies - I’ll be using bot software such as cyber, the kickstation etc. Generally quite simplistic software, just potentially a large amount of tasks will be running simultaneously.
