Hi I'm looking at get this:

Chassis & Display
Genesis IV: 15.6" Matte HD LED 16:9 Widescreen (1366x768)

Processor (CPU)
Intel® Core™i7 Quad Core Mobile Processor i7-3610QM (2.30GHz) 6MB

Memory (RAM)
8GB SAMSUNG 1600MHz SODIMM DDR3 MEMORY (2 x 4GB)

Graphics Card
NVIDIA® GeForce® GT 640M - 2GB DDR3 Video RAM - DirectX® 11

Memory - Hard Disk
500GB SERIAL ATA II 2.5" HARD DRIVE WITH 8MB CACHE (5,400rpm)

I will be using it for mid range games and maybe a few higher range (most high end games I play on xbox!), and I will be using it for work at either uni or an apprenticeship. This gives a total price of £663 which is the max I want to pay. I will need to make this least for 3 years or 6 years at the most.
So can anyone recommend any improvements that I can make?
Thanks

Hi mate.

A lot of options open to you. At your price range, I'd consider focusing on graphics performance ahead of processing. When playing games, the GPU is where your bottleneck will come especially on games in future, the processor would breeze through, in terms of future proofing for 3 years graphics is where it's at!
So on your budget I'd recommend...

Optimus IV

15.6" Matte Full HD 16:9 Widescreen (1900x1080)

Processor (CPU) Intel® Core™i5 Dual Core Mobile Processor i5-3210M (2.40GHz) 3MB

4GB SAMSUNG 1600MHz SODIMM DDR3 MEMORY (1 x 4GB)

NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 660M - 2GB DDR5 Video RAM

Memory - Hard Disk
500GB SERIAL ATA II 2.5" HARD DRIVE WITH 8MB CACHE (5,400rpm)

That spec comes in at 686, which with the £15 discount code makes it £671.

With this spec you'd get a full hd screen, nicer chasis. The loss of 4gb ram won't make a huge difference and this can be upgraded. And the swapping of an I7 for I5 in favour of a better graphics performance, especially in the long run would be more prudent.

Hope that helps :)

Hi mate,
That sounds good! :) I was looking at the i5-3210M with 4gb ram be originally, but what you have said has made me change my mind so I will go with it!
One other thing is will I be able to upgrade the HDD and ram later on if I choose to?
Thanks for your help :D
