Motherboards

Hello All,

I've been playing around with different builds and so far I've only seen Asus motherboards on the site. Do PCS offer other brands and if not is there a particular reason as to why not? I'm just curious...

Like Keynes's said, probably reliable and probably have some kind of contract in place with their supplier for lower prices. And probably easier to keep track of stock coming in and out if it's all one brand, easier to maintain a good amount.

I like ASUS as a brand, rockin a asus mobo and soundcard, no complaints.

I think if PCS were to offer say I dunno, MSI or ASrock mobo's, most customers would be totally confused by the choice, even though most are pretty much the same. Therefore its easier and simpler if the simiply stick to one good brand instead of two good brands or whatever.

I guess the same goes for gpu's too. A choice of brands may potentially confuse guys that are new to hardware or simply just wanting a gaming rig that does the job.

I currently have an Asus motherboard and just wondered if they were particularly good or if there was something they did others don't. My previous motherboard was a Gigabyte and it actually melted within a year even with a hefty cooling system.

No problems with the Asus yet...

Wow.... Thats really freaky!!
...Wont ever be buying one of those then!

I guess the thing to take from that is make sure you have proper ventilation, a decent cooler and keep your fans clean!!
With my old desktop i used to take the side panels off every couple of months and hoover out all the dust (disconnect the power first obviously and be delicate with it!)
It always ran better after a good bit of suction!

I had good fans installed on high and a Corsair CPU cooler, I clean my computer every week and it honestly fell apart. I think it was just bad luck it wouldn't put me off buying another Gigabyte board but since PCS don't stock them I won't be getting one. :)

Will do :)

And I'm hoping I don't find the red keys too mushy and sensitive! I'm not that heavy of a typer but I don't touch type in the conventional way so I can sometimes be a bit heavy. I'm hoping that will change with this keyboard. I was so close to going for blacks after trying out a Steelseries 6gv2 thingy in PC world and didn't think it was that stiff.

I was also massively close to going for the Ducky Shine 2... £150.... So pretty... Didn't come with a wrist rest, dealbreaker.
