New build desktop this time, tips please

So I changed my mind from laptop to desktop. Kept looking at benchmarks and really felt the craving for the 690

So I did this OC build. I want to be able to add another 690 in the future. And another important goal is silence. My previous machine was so so loud and id rather take it the opposite way. This will be a dual screen setup. I might change the screen choice to enable fast track.

Any tips and changes is very welcomed, aiming for something that will handle anything on ultra for the next "few" months lol

Yea this will be a gaming rig. Which case did you have in mind?

If it is just for gaming it is overkill. The cpu you have chosen is not going to provide a significant improvement in gaming unless you are running benchmarks, same with overclocking and 2400mhz memory bandwidth. Considering the components you have chosen I'd consider a different case for better cooling/airflow, a full tower if you are planning to SLI. I'd suggest 2 x gtx 680 2gb rather than a single GTX 690 and a monitor that supports 120hz.

Just as a point, but any high end graphics card(s) will not be silent during gaming at ultra settings :)

Did some adjustments, leaving some options open for the future I hope. Reason I want to leave the 690 in there is so I can slap another one in when the day comes.

My concern would be that, by the time games appear which one GTX-690 can't handle, you will actually be wanting an entire new computer. It's going to be several years, and a lot of components will be showing their age by then. Also, by then, there will be cheaper graphics cards that equal or exceed the 690's performance, so if you do want to keep the same PC and upgrade the graphics, your best choice might turn out to be a whole new card.

It does seem extremely overkill if I'm honest. I don't think I saw a price on your build, can I ask how much it's costing? I only ask because my rig was £1015 and it runs everything on max at the moment and I still have the option to throw another 670 in there if things do decide to slow down. And I reckon having my rig with 2 x 670's would still be considerably cheaper than what you posted. Like Toxo said, the 690 will have no problem for a long while if you're only playing on a single screen so there'll probably never be any need to SLI and when you do need to it's probably going to be easier buying a new card by that time.

P.s. if you are looking to go overkill, you're missing a blu-ray player!

@mikerh I know, ive been on this forum and main site sooooo many times since i started saving :D and thanks the guys here are really good.

@grimezy its coming at 2k, It is a bit overkill but i want to make sure its future proof and i game a lot and I like everything pretty so I am trying to avoid getting a game in 5 months time and not being able to crank it all the way up lol. meh for blueray. i had a blueray burned on my previous machine but ended up never using it lol

knutte , i really dont think there will be a game in the next 2 yrs that a 690 wont handle, blueray not something i would bother with unless you wish to..if you have the wonga to burn then i see nothing wrong with the 690 but as others have said you can get the same bang for less bucks, personally id make sure the psu and case are something you can live with for next upgrade who knows whats around the corner in a few years..upgrading yourself parts wise is very easy and having a very good psu and case you like will be a bonus.....pcs upgrade facility im sure will be about for a long while:wheelchair:

You could Sli GTX 680 instead of just getting one 690 will cost around the same as the 690 but your fps will be insane.

Yea im leaning more and more towards sli 680 4gb sli. Seems its hitting higher fps's and with additional vram which should be a good help in games such a skyrim running tons of mods.
