New gamer looking for suggestions

I'm a beginner looking to buy a computer for Photoshop (CS6) or Lightroom and to do some gaming on such games like Truck Simulator 2, Minecraft and probably something like Battefield 4 and COD: Ghosts.

What do you think? I have NO idea about computers and their components. Not sure about the graphics card, memory, power supply, processor and sound card? Suggestions?

My budget is below £1000 (this includes the monitor), I've chosen this particular one because I already own it on my familes PC and its ok for photoshop.

Looks like a well thought out & put together build for your needs - should play battlefield 4 on medium settings quite well , cod ghosts you will probably be able to have on high i would think.

Yes looks good , only thing i would suggest is if you can raise some more cash a radeon HD-7970 would max out most games out there , real nice card if you like AMD , but you would have to install a bigger PSU for this.

But you would be able to play most stuff out there with one of these in high or ultra settings with good framerates . food for thaught :eek:

hi im not really a expert but i know a bit
if u want better screen quality get a ips panel monitor if you want faster response times but not so much clarity pick the average tn panel
on board sound card is perfectly fine
i would go for a 650w psu
upgrade your gpu to something a bit better try getting the gtx 670 is bit more expensive but should help run the newer games coming out might even be ok with the gtx 660 or the radeon 7870
add the triple heat pipe cooler on there and silver warranty for 5 pound
change your mother board aswell the one you have is a mini one go for the z87-A instead
might cost more than 1000
but like i said im not expert just giving my say :)

This suggestion is well worth thinking about as well , its probably more realistic than mine TBH , mines all very well but if there is a budget to keep to its not really attainable.

Sorry i get carried away when discussing GPUs , Id beg , borrow , steal & sell my granny to get a real decent graphics card
(especially if its made by Gainward!!) [rollinglaugh]

Yes the I5 processors are great , one of the best processors i ever invested in :eek:

As a heads up (though both would be slightly over budget)... There's two machines close to budget in the review section. A mini pc vanquish prodigy mark 2 for £949. Add a monitor for under £100 and it wouldn't be too far over budget.

Or the vanquish gt1 for £1279 which includes a monitor and is an awesome build.

Review models are the best value for money as they come with discounts applied. Only drawback is you can't modify them in any way.

But that £1279 pc really is a beast in terms of value and bang for buck. Could you stretch to that? Would perform significantly better than your build... But obviously costs are important.

Also kruppsy's quote is alot more expensive. That £4 difference can go a long way.

Memory card? Do you mean Graphics card? The graphics card is very respectable should play battlefield at highest settings I'd have thought, maybe not Ultra across the board.

Im still not quite sure I managed to crowbar an SSD in there for the budget....
