New Laptop Specs

Hey guys. God knows how many people you get through here like me asking what they think of their new rig etc etc but I'm adding to that tally!

My laptop is pretty much everything to me, as I work from home, so it rarely leaves my side (much to the annoyance of others haha).

I might chuck on the odd game on here and there, hence why I've just gone for the 120gb SSD. Is this going to be enough? The thing I use most is excel, and I doubt this is much of a space clogger.

Also read mixed reviews about Windows 8, and I've no experience of it myself, but I've done my research that there are apps out there so you can get still the old skool desktop back up if I start freaking out about the change lol. I should be fine?

Anyway below is the specs for 700 odd quid. Tell me if you reckon my money is better spent in different areas or not, as I really don't know that much about computers, but maybe more than the man on the street.

you could try a hybrid hdd instead of a ssd, 120Gb is very small if you havent got a storage drive and only the very high end pcs laptops have space for 2 hard drives unless you loose yout dvd drive and get an external.

you can but its not very mobile and having the odd game here and there on a ssd will fill it up quite fast, the way my desktop is set up with my ssd allows me maximum space all my tempory files downloads etc all save to a seperate hdd aswell as my games so only my OS and important programs save to my ssd its only been a week or so since i got my 180GB ssd and ive filled 60Gb already and thats without office. Its your choice at the end of it but 120Gb will soon fill up is all im saying and a hybrid drive will give you speeds and space and im not toally sure but should cost less also.

Ok, I appreciate that.

My problem is I really don't know how much better an SSD is compared to a Hybrid.

The 750gb Seagate momentus xt hybrid, SATA 6 GB/s, 32mb Cache (7200 rpm) is only £7 more expensive. If the performance isn't going to be that much different, then I'm all for it.

Gone for the 750gb Seagate momentus xt hybrid, I think you make a good point about the space, and it really doesn't seem that much slower than the SSD from some of the youtube comparisons I've seen.

Appreciate your help. I'm sure it's going to be a long couple of weeks now lol.

If I had a single drive bay it would be my choice.

Ordered mine on Monday it's a killer this waiting, but not enough to pay extra for faster delivery.

Yeah for 700 that is as good as its going to get. And others have said in your situation a hybrid could be a good idea.
