Hi! I have a PCS computer from October 2022 and have just ordered a new monitor with a Display Port and HDMI port.

Do I have a Display Port on the back of my PC? I can't tell if the current HDMI port for my Samsung monitor is next to 3 Display ports or they are something else. The ports aren't labelled as far as I can see.

Yes your graphics card has a display port, that's what dp represents on the graphic card description

Well it didn't matter anyway as my computer packed up as soon as I plugged the PC Specialist approved Monitor, and I am now having a nightmare trying to get them to accept my return. :(

can I check you haven’t done what I did recently? the motherboard has sockets for monitor cables but you need to plug the monitor into the graphics card which is a few inches below the motherboard in the back of the pc. (at least it was on mine) So I spent some time trying to plug my monitor into the motherboard slots with all kinds of error message, before realising I needed to plug it in to the graphics card…

Thanks for the message! My set up is simple with my HDMI and DP slots in a row, so there's nothing above or below to plug into. Plus, I had to take my PC apart to get it to 'forget' the incident so I could exactly see where the ports were connecting to the graphics card.

Why did you have to “take the PC apart to get it to 'forget' the incident so I could exactly see where the ports were connecting to the graphics card”? What was being ‘forgot’? What was not clear about the advice above regarding the ports?

We told/showed you what outputs you’d have, and if the new monitor is not working then there’s more going on than just wrong ports.

Did you speak to someone at PCSpecialist, and they told you a specific monitor was recommended for your PC…or did they just say a specific monitor would be ‘compatible’ with your setup?
