New Optimus II 17 crashing on 3dmark 2011

Unboxed my Optimus II 17 just now, i7-2670qm, 555m, 8gb, 120gb SSD.
First thing I did was update the 555m drivers and download 3Dmark 2011 and PCmark/
3Dmark crashes every time on the physics test. No error message, just a complete instant shut down of the laptop to a blank screen.

Any ideas what's wrong? :(

It's also hitting 7-10fps. Is that normal? My VGA button is highlighted orange, though the speedometer and battery icon switch between the battery being green and the speedometer being orange. I assume this is Optimus.

I believe the low fps is because futuremark/3d mark can't detect optimus.
Still confused on why it's crashing on the exact same part of the physics test every time though. Hope it's not so faulty chip.
I'll do more benchmarking and see if I get expected results when I get home from work.

Can anyone confirm whether they can run 3d mark 2011 with their optimus 555m please or if it's just me.

Have you tried forcing Optimus or your Descrete card 555m to work, it could be as said before using the CPU on board one as the software may not be telling the system it needs more power.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I ran prime95 + a temperature monitoring program last night. Stress test hit 85 hot and didn't crash so that's good.
I have installed Dragon age origins and Starcraft, both of which when loaded up the optimus light changes from green (battery) to orange (speedometer) to show the gpu is kicking in. Both games run flawlessly on full ultra settings at 1080p which is really impressive. It just seems to be 3dmark 2011 that is the problem with Optimus. I believe it is a futuremark problem though and not the gpu as it is not detecting it. Yeah I have tried running with the gpu selected (right click).

What still puzzles me though is that 3dmark 2011 is using the i7 for the tests which explains the low fps, but crashes completely on the physics test.. i wasn't running any temperature monitoring when 3dmark crashed.

I tried running 3dmark but I got an error message, preventing me from running the benchmark.(Same specs as you)

Are you using a cooler by the way? I'm using a Zalman and it's helped the cooling system immensely, Metro 2033 on high is the most intensive game I've played so far and no temps surpassed the 60C mark.
