Obtain maximum possible performance of new laptop

Hi, I recently got a laptop from PCSpecialist, precisely the 15,3" Lafité® AI AMD model. The specs are the following:

CPU: Ryzen 7 - 8845HS
iGPU: Radeon 780M
RAM: 16GB

The thing is that, I would like to get as much performance as possible from it, as I've seen many positive reviews from this APU and it can deliver some nice perfomance on different types of applications, in my case I'm going to use it both for some gaming from time to time and some programming with Unity and Godot. But after starting to use it, I've noticed that (or at least I have the feeling that) I was leaving some performance on the table. After some testing, these are the elements that I believe that are taking back part of the possible performance of this system:
  • Firstly, the iGPU has only assigned around 400MB of RAM as VRAM, so my first idea was to assign more VRAM but I couldn't find the option anywhere in the OS or the BIOS settings.
  • Secondly, after some midly heavy workload, the CPU would start to thermal throttle (or that's what I thought it was) and I would have some perfomance drops until the fans would cool it down again, once again I could not find anywhere in the OS or the BIOS a way to modify the energy consumption of the CPU or most preferable, to control better fan speed and how they cool the CPU.
So, my question is: Does anyone know if I can control or modify any of those values, adjust TDP or even modify other values and configurations to improve perfomance or obtain as much performance as possible from this APU ?

Thank you!

If I'm not mistaken, the Lafite 15 is a TongFang chassis (GX5HRXG), therefore you'll have the control software/master driver installed (the latest version should be 5.57.51.18), allowing you to adjust what you need.

Could you please post the full specs for that laptop?

Yes, you are right I have the TongFang GX5HRXG. Full specs are:
  • CPU: Ryzen 7 8845HS - Thermal Pad: PTM7950
  • iGPU: Radeon 780M
  • RAM: 16GB ADATA DDR5 4800MHz CL40
  • SSD: 1TB
Regarding the control sofware, I'll assume that you mean the Control Center that can be found on the PCSpecialist Software Download page, alongside with the drivers for the machine. In that case, I have the 5.55.50.11_GX version, how should I update it to the latest one you mention ?

You could take a look at RyzenMaster from AMD.

I'm not sure if it will do everything you want but it should be a good starting point.
Thank you, I'll check that!!

Update: I tried installing it as you say, and this popped up :V

Exactly, the Control Center, also known as the Master Driver.

Regarding the version, I could only check it through a competitor because PCS does not make the various versions available to the public, only through the user accounts' download sections.

Personally, I would ONLY install the version listed in your section, avoiding fiddling with versions from other competitors that may not be fully compatible with your chassis. :)

N.B. I'm not sure you could modify any iGPU settings with the CC; at least, I can't do anything with the iGPU on my Ionico 2022 except activate or deactivate it.

I'm getting kinda confused with your answer, I downloaded it from PCS page, from my personal account, I don't know what you say about other competitors :V

But anyways, the Control Center is quite limited, at least from my point of view, as I cannot control much from there, basically, I can set some preset modes (office, balanced, etc) and see my device information, there's not much more. I cannot really modify fan speed or any other value.

There are basically only two laptop manufacturers: Clevo and TongFang, who build the chassis for the various models.

It is then up to the individual SIs to customise them by adding all of the missing components. PCS is a SI; they don't physically build the chassis.

Other competitors include XMG, Eluktronics, SKIKK, Raiontech, and others, however discussions about them are typically not allowed on this forum.

I can't help much because I don't have your chassis; I'd suggest contacting PCS to ask about the most recent version available for your laptop, and/or waiting for advice from someone who owns the exact same model. (y)
