To all Optimus V owners, if you are having problems with your headphones please do the following and it will solve it. Not sure why PCSpecialist didn't do this when they tested and configured the laptop.

1) Uninstall current drivers - right click on My Computer -> Properties -> Device Manager -> Sound, video and game controllers -> Right click on your audio device and click uninstall.

2) Uninstall Soundblaster software if you have it by going to Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs.

3) Go to http://www.clevo.com.tw/en/e-services/download/ftpOut.asp?Lmodel=W230SS&ltype=9&submit=+GO+

4) Download the latest audio driver (there is currently two, you want the second called Audio_SBC2), Hotkey AP and the Sound Blaster Cinema 2 (SBCinema_2).

5) Extract and Install the audio driver - restart may be necessary
6) Extract and Install the Sound Blaster 2 software - restart may be necessary
7) Extract and Install the Hotkey AP - restart computer

Done! Speakers turn off and headphones work when plugged in and the headphones still work when you reboot from sleep.

Nvidia drivers were also old and the graphics card wasn't working until I updated them (in Device Manager) - again this is something that PCSpecialist should keep an eye on in future as you expect everything to be up to date when buying a brand new laptop.

Meh, it happens. I've found even with my old Optimus IV that the old drivers are pointless as the component vendors have their own drivers so I completely bypass most if not all of the Clevo ones.

The Clevo drivers for this thing haven't been updated for about a year, so yeah I don't rely on them.

Many thanks for this... It solved the problem I've been having with the headphone jack since I got my Optimus V. I had to reboot the machine nearly every time I wanted to plug in headphones. It was a pain, but your solution has solved it perfectly cheers :)

Well what do you use?
I'm finding that I'm getting a fuzzing noise on my speakers unless they're on minimum volume and muted :/
Looking for any better drivers, especially if they don't have the VIA Audio software that you can't remove without uninstalling the drivers too :/
