Hi guys,

I received my Optimus VII just yesterday and got a BSOD during my first run of CS:GO. I'm using the driver version 354.00.
Does anyone have any idea what can solve this?

I'm about to order the Optimus VII as well and quite worried to read all this. Seems like downgrading the graphics driver doesn't always solve the problem. Any updates on the situation?

There are still known issues between Windows 10 and NVIDIA drivers, it's anybody's guess when that will get sorted. It sounds to me like Microsoft and NVIDIA are probably blaming each other.

On my Optimus IV I discovered (thanks to Pagey) that installing (or reinstalling) the chipset driver after Windows Update has installed all other drivers solved my issues.

These issues are not hardware related so you almost certainly can't send your laptop back because of them, it's a software issue for which PCS are almost certainly not responsible. If you have, or can get hold of, a legal copy of Windows 8.1 you'll probably get a more stable system running that. Hopefully the Windows 10/NVIDIA problem will get sorted before the free upgrade period for Windows 10 runs out.

Hi,

I bought my Optimus VII for working with Photoshop, Illustrator and Autocad and having the same issues. Specially on Illustrator.
My problems usually appear when I work with no AC power (on battery).

I think that I solved my problem. So hopefully could solve yours.

From the NVIDIA Control Panel, select the "Manage 3D settings" from the left column -> click on the Power management mode drop down box and select "Prefer Maximum Performance". Click over the "Apply" button at the bottom of the panel to apply the changes.

With that, my problems have been drastically reduced, but they still happen randomly.

Additionally then, I created a Windows power plan from the Power Options section. With all set to maximum.

Now I'm testing, and still haven't had anymore BSOD.

Can you try it with your computers and report if it solves problems to you?

Thanks!

Ps. Sorry for my bad English. I'm catalan.

Not sure what are the rules on reviving dead post, but my laptop has been working fine with driver 358.50. I only had one BSOD and that was at 2am one night but I was out so never actually saw it, I just checked the mini dump file.
So either try those driver or do like me and try every Nvidia drivers until you find one that's good. I haven't tried the newer ones apart from 361 but that one was no good.
Hope this helps

just got this laptop and had this problem uninstalled the nvidia driver and installed 358.50 for battlefront, and did a custom install with no experiance stuff hoping this works as a bit annoyed that this is a known problem but you can still buy the machine knowing this.

Hi,

I am really thinking of buying an Optimus II laptop. I need a reliable laptop to work with AUTOCAD, REVIT, ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR...Based on your so far experience do you recommend me to buy this laptop.
Thank you in advance.

Hi,

I think it should be fine. I'm on Autocad 2015, illustrator cc15... and I'm satisfied. Nvida driver is 359.00. All set to maximum performance, like I said in last post.
The only drawback for this scheme is that you will empty your battery in 2 hours of work.

Hope this helps.
